Thanks
So for an untreated room
What is better passive or active ?
It is not necessarily depending on passive or active, so let me reformulate your question:

If you plan to not use EQ or room treatment (which for deep bass can be huge and expensive) than a loudspeaker with non anechoically flat bass is often the more expedient choice.

Neither.
For bass, positioning the elements that produce the bass within a room has the largest impact (room modes can have huge peaks!!!). That's why I commented earlier that having mains with deep bass doesn't mean you won't benefit from a subwoofer.

DSP and treatment can then be used to iron out the remaining issues. But if you have a 20dB null due to a room mode interacting your mains placement (as many people do), all hope is lost.

I'll apologize for my generalization in post #28. I should have said I don't need subs in my 2 channel system because they distract me from the music. I have simple ideas that would fix the ductwork without removing any drywall and I could put mats on the shelves and such, but after using a half a dozen subs in previous systems I just find them distracting. I have no doubt B&M pro's can and do integrate subs into 2 channel systems with great results and if I ever start getting even the slightest bit bored with my system I know my current favorite dealer would hook me up.
I do use them in our HT systems and the ARC app paradigm subs use do a really nice job
