what interface to buy?

my baby is arriving soon. I already returned the id4. It was a good interface, but a bit harsh and boomy and less detailed. The baby is smoother more detailed and less colored

this is exactly what coloration is
Sure it may be described that way and I know this. But it is just subjective and has no technical value. It is just an impression of a listener. And different listeners will probably have different impressions. Here we try to use measurements for describing the technical ability of equipment.

Uh huh.

damn, I was looking for expert opinions, instead a bunch of novices showed up denying realities.
This is pointless

I’ve just joined, and I thought there would be a lot of professionals here. Well, I suppose they are here too, you just have to filter through the noise.

Professional what? Audio subjectivists? You want unfounded subjective nonsense. Theres plenty of web sites that offer that, go find one. And take Plautus with you.

Aww now I'm imagining them holding hands walking away into the sunset... so romantic

In fact there are professionals here, and other people with a lot of knowledge. They answered the OPs question in detail and told him the background. He just chose to ignore them.

no, the sound is colored
No, it's not.

You might perhaps need lower noise than Focusrite, for which RME is a step up.

@ LTig the RME is insanely expensive
Expensive is the most subjective measure of all. It depends on what you need and what you value. RME has the best RTL, tip top HW durability for day in day out use, and loads of neat RME features. I don't need any of those so I use MOTU.

Honestly, Gearspace would be a better forum to ask.
Gearspace can also be quite punishing for people asking lazy over-generalized questions and quoting nonsense from YouTube and LLMs.

if his tests were valid then the interfaces showing a flat frequency response curve in his tests would all sound the same, but they dont
How do you know that?

In today's market products without flat FR are unusual.

This is pointless
You may finally have a point.

I like it ! I have the same one as well. He can have mine for the same price ! I used to use Presonus interfaces for home recording that worked quite well.

I agree; in fact, I was the one who wrote that there are professionals as well.

On the contrary, I wrote that there are professionals here too. That’s why I like it here; perhaps I didn't phrase my message very clearly.

I decided to go with the Neumann mt48. Babyface goes back. Doesnt have compressor. And sounds sibilant compared to other interfaces and sounds not real compared to apogee Symphony desktop. I heard a guitar comparsion, and oh man, the apogee sounded so much more real, the guitar much realer. But Neuman is even realer and less sibilanty than ahe apogee and i read the apogee is colored, so why not go with the mt48 ?!
