I'm upgrading from a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2nd Gen. Between the Audient iD4 and the Lewitt Connect 2, which unit offers superior objective audio performance?
many utubers rank adient id4/14/24 on top for budget interfaces. But when i listend to this audio comparison, the Lewitt connect 2 sounded a lot less sibilant on these vocal tests and even rihcer on the E-guitar (more metallic sound of the guitar) test

after watching it im very confused what to pick

pls help

Did you know ASR has a review index which is searchable and sortable? You can select audio electronics, then device type ADC/DAC Interface.

You might consider your audio processing plug in library between the ADC and the DAW as part of your cost equation. Some ADC/DAC Interfaces include plug ins. Some people like the UA Apollo or more inexpensive UA Volt for their included plug ins.

It would be nice if someone sent ASR a Volt to test.

You also find people selling this type item used for local pick up and testing.

I guess one could put Room EQ Wizard on a laptop and take it to a Guitar Center or music store and test their demo units in loopback mode.

Don't believe everything you read or watch in the internet.

Did you use proper controls while listening to those interfaces? (meaning blind and level matched to less than 0.1 dB).
Did you use the same headphone?
Did you make sure the headphones impedance curve had no audible influence on the frequency response depending on different output impedances of both units headphones outputs?

If you cannot answer yes to those 3 questions you can't be sure that what you experienced as different sound was either caused by the interface only or by mismatch of headphone and interface output.

It is better to check the specs and decide on better specs (keeping in mind that distortion alone is usually inaudible in allmost all interfaces, while noise may be a problem with microphone inputs) and/or the required features.

this is junk, he didnt test an y of the interfaces.

I decided for the id4 mk2. I open a new threat bc now I have questions about microphones

Universal Audio Volt 4 USB-C Audio Interface, got mine off of Ebay.

I already ordered the id4. I think that one sounds more neutral

He is considering a Universal Audio interface. Universal Audio makes some models which have on-board DSP which can host plugins - i.e. no need for a DAW. You can make your interface sound like anything that you want - list of plugins. These features may be of use for studio professionals, but for those of us who simply want an interface for measurement or hifi purposes, we don't want our interface mangling our signal. Personally I wouldn't buy a Universal Audio interface, but that's because I have no need for those features and I don't want to pay for things I don't need!

I would have use for that, I would definietyly use compressor for all my recordings. Also Eq., But these interfaces alwayus are the bigger versions with 2 mic plug ins,. I want a small interface

TRhere's somerthing that really pisses me off with the id4. Every time i restart my pc, the volume settingh is lost, so I have to turn the volume knob up again. This is unacceptable!
