What headphones would you like Amir to measure next?

Sennheiser HD 25

AIAIAI TMA-2 DJ

Hi,

It could be cool to see some Shure on the measurements table :

Shure SRH-840A
Shure SRH-1540

Pardon me for asking, but is there a centralized list (in the style of solderdude’s or crinacle’s clickable lists) of Amir’s most comprehensive/current collection of measurements/assessments ?

If I can paruse that, I probably will have a decent size list of unusual requests to it, and can possibly provide uncommon/unusual models (or models with alternative pads or pad swaps) that he & his circle are unlikely to own or know someone who owns lol

IEMs:
- Subtonic Storm
- Forte Ears Macbeth
- Canpur 622b (both regular and TI version)
- Elysian X and Annihilator 2023
- 7th Acoustic Asteria
- Penon Rival
- Campfire Andromeda 2020
- Moondrop x Crinacle Dusk

Is it desktop only ? I’m on IOS 18.5 and no text is clickable/tappable?
Here should do it

SIMGOT EP5
Best budget headphone of 2025

Crinear Daybreak.

It's either the answer to everything or a hype monster! The world needs to know what the distortion figures look like!

I don't know if you've seen this : https://gadgetrytech.squig.link/headsets/?share=Harman_2018_Target,Simgot_EP5

I think the measurements of Gadgetry tech are pretty accurate as the measurement of the K371 they made is the same as Amir one.

Yeah, I’ve seen this measurement as well as Cuckoo’s (on bilibili).
I’m wondering additional parameters on this headphone, specifically group delay and whether there are any resonance issues.
I’m also curious what kind of evaluation Amir would likely give.

I bought the SIMGOT EP5 & FiiO JT1 after seeing Cuckoo’s measurements.
I believe the SIMGOT EP5 and FiiO JT1 use the same driver and design, as the official specs list the same driver material and impedance.

After teardown both, I found these similarities:
Ports on the baffle around the driver; damping paper covering roughly a 90° sector of that ports;
A mesh grille on the outer cup with a full internal sheet of damping paper with a tiny port on it, creating a semi-open yet near-closed implementation.
A small port on the outer shell.
the one biggest difference is the EP5 adds a ring of foam about 1 cm thick behind the driver.

In listening, the EP5 sounds slightly better overall than the JT1.
I see it as a representative of Chi-Fi in the headphone category, maybe with potential to push the dynamic-driver over-ear market forward.

The EP5 surely looks interesting. I ordered one to try it (in France it's 80€ on aliexpress).
Some measurements show a dip from 3 kHz to 6 kHz, some don't... it could be a good compliance with the target.

Like you I'm waiting for a test by Amir, or Oratory. I think they both provide the best measurements available (it usually fit what I hear).

Thanks, I decided to buy these after seeing your post, I don't really have any large cup closed back headphones (semi closed back apparently) and these look pretty good from the measurements, manged to get them from Amazon UK for just £71, there's a promotion going on!

EDIT: they may not be large ear cups given a customer review I've seen, still looking for more information.
EDIT#2: can't find any information on exact size of earcups but they don't look like small earcups in the pics, as in they don't look like the small earcups of my NAD HP50 headphone. I think they'll be ok size wise.

EDIT#3: They're actually 95mm wide pads according to one reviewer, here's the link: https://www.headphoneer.com/simgot-ep5-headphones-review/
Here are the pics from that review, it looks like enough space inside the pads for the ear. I measured my Hifiman HE400SE and that's also around 95mm wide on the cups so we're talking same cup size as the round Hifiman's I think- also looks like they'll be similar or maybe more space inside for your ears as that product.
They’re 95mm wide circular pads with standard lip mounting.jpg

I just measured the length of my ears (lol) and they are 60mm long so I think they're gonna fit in there without touching.

Thanks for the link to the review.
At the end, the comparison with the Fiio FT1 is strange, I mean imho the AKG K371 is still better than the Fiio, with same price and the reviewer write about the FT1 "it punches well above its price class". To me it's a hype.
I guess he didn't try the akg.

I'm mostly interested in the measurements and the fact they look like they measure closed to Harman whilst being semi-closed back and with pretty big earcups, so it's not a type of headphone I currently own. I wouldn't pay much attention to subjective reviews if they don't contain any measurements. I also like the price of them, which is why I just decided to buy them within about 5mins! I agree though, it would be great for Amir to measure these ones, they look like they could be good, I wonder if distortion is kept in check. I think they've got a good aesthetic and people seem to say they're light and comfortable, so they're pluses.

Yes I agree about measurements.
I don't agree with this reviewer about the FT1, so wait & see for the Simgot.

On gadgetrytech the mids dip is large, that's the problem with a lot of different reviewers, they don't have the consistency of ASR or Oratory measurements.

Here is Cuckoo's review & measurement.
It cover frequency response, distortion, impedance, and left-right channel matching.
For dynamic-driver earphones at this price point, the distortion performance is quite good.

Do you know if they're all using the same fixture? I take it some of them are maybe using GRAS clone? (There could be some unit to unit variation too though of course).

They're alright those distortion measurements. Bass won't need EQ boosting and at 86dB you're at 0.3% distortion at 20Hz as the highest point. For 96dB you're creeping up to just above 1% below 60Hz, which is also OK, but not totally outstanding when comparing to some headphones. Distortion in rest of frequency range is also quite low. I'd generally be using it at a max of 86dB (in terms of amp settings if I were to do a 0dBFS sine sweep at 1kHz point), so in most cases the 86dB graph is my worst case scenario.....96dB is fine anyway. Yeah, seems pretty decent!

I think these reviewers don't use the same fixture, nor the same target... that's why so much differences out there.
