Each list is in order of personal preference and strikethrough means I sold 'em, so the ones I kept are all great to me.

The HE-500s are my overall favorites... they just nail any and everything.

Closed-back
Dan Clark Audio Aeon Flow RT/Audeze LCD-2 (interchangeable based on mood/desired sound signature)
Focal Elegia
Audio-Technica ATH-A900x

Open-back
Hifiman HE-500
Hifiman HE6se V2
Sennheiser PC-38x (Gaming only, but I'm counting them...)
Beyerdynamic DT-1990 Pro
Avantone Pro Planar
Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro
Sivga Phoenix
Philips Fidelio X2

With this lineup I feel like I have all of the tonal bases covered. I'm very fortunate to have assembled a collection that brings such enjoyment.

I've added a HiFiMAN Ananda to my collection. It's the most expensive headphone I now have, bought used like most of the other ones.
It came with two custom cables wich is good since the standard one feels like a garden hose.
As far as the headphone goes, I like it so far. Good FR without EQ, good imaging and detail. It's not too heavy either and the very large earcups make for very good comfort.
Just like the good old HD600 it might not be the most ... flamboyant headphone out there, but it is a great allrounder.

Starting in 2015 in this order:

- Sennheiser PX 200-II, the cable broke, still have to fix them, but the weird copper strains are a pain in the ass.
- Bang & Olufsen H6, my go to headphones for on the go listening. Need some bass boost.
- Sennheiser HD6XX, love them with bass boost and a little treble EQ
- Neumann NDH 20, need some boost around 2k and less 8k. Great bass.
- Beyerdynamic DT770 250Ohm, very nice after some treble EQ. Very comfortable and my go to headphone for long ms teams/webex sessions.
- Sony MH1c, terrible cable, made to go behind the neck. Who wears them like that? But sound really nice and perfect for the summer, when you want to commute light weight without a bag.

I would not label myself as a real audio enthousiast and I am pretty sure that COVID end will make me move on from this « hobby ».
I so have only one wired pair of headphones (if we exclude cheap noname IEM) : the AKG 712 Pro.

However I have been somewhat a RF Headphones enthousiast and bought a long long time ago a Sennheiser RS130 then (more recently) RS175 with HDR185 headphones.
To be honest, even if they are the cheapest, I have always found the RS130 better sounding for my taste than the other two which are « darker ». RS130 measurements from a French website were perfectly flat in fact.

I even prefer RS130 over AKG 712 Pro which are not truly satisfying even with a good amp. I do not know what really bothers me but something does not sound right and even fatiguing.
I also had a BT Parrot Zik 3 which I loved but the build quality was disastrous (it is now completely broken) and a Sony MDR1000X which is OK but average at best. The best BT headphones I own are AirPods Pro. They of course does not sound as « wide » as headsets but they just sound right/balanced. I use BT headphones mostly at work (MDR1000X) or to walk/practice sports (AirPods Pro).

Late to this party.

Audeze Sine
Ether CX
HE 560 V4
Fostex TR-X00 - Ebony

Really like all of them. Love the Sine tonality and form factor. Love the Ebony slam. Ether CX clarity but light on bass.

Hi have Beyerdynamic 880 250ohm, 990 250ohm, Grado e225, and a pair of alesandro's (which are a grado), and superlux hd681. The Beyers have a bit of a rap for being bright but I like them a lot (maybe I like a bright sound) - so to me not only are they good sounding they are are really comfortable too. I use mine with a combination morphit and canopener software.....

Man, I don't know how you know your ass from your elbow after owning so many headphones - EQ might be the answer! :D

I don't think that will give him any more joy. I think he just wants to try out headphones.
I would if I had the budget. Every single one on the planet. Just for the fun of it.

Ha, well it's an idea! I think it would be confusing to try so many headphones, I think it's better to try good ones from different classes of headphone, eg dynamic driver / planar / open back / closed back, and probably to keep hold of those few so you can compare & experiment between them, along with EQ experimentation. I'd probably buy an HD800s and one of the top top planar headphones to add to my current arsenal if I had unlimited funds, but common sense is preventing me to get either, afterall I have the K702 and the HE4XX which are baby brother good examples of those two "types" of headphone.

Attack is in the 1-3kHz range (much lower than most think it is) and I measured no difference using the Dekoni pads there.
The major differences are lower mids/upper bass is lower than B pads and higher than A pads.
The highs are somewhat mellower but the filter is still needed.
Relatively the 1-3kHz area is lower in level using the Dekoni when compared to A pads.

I use mine with A pads + filter.
A pads without filter is unlistenable to me. (tonal balance closer to DT880)
Dekoni without filter is usable but not optimal.
B pads is way too ' DT990'-ish' to me, too dark/bloated.

DT1990 + treble filter is fine without EQ, just don' t expect Harman bass.

Yes, that's how I do it. I pick the ones I think I will like. And I look at stuff that is somewhat different from what I already have. It's still easy for me to do that because I don't have that many headphones yet.
I've also set a limit for myself for what I want to spend on 1 headphone or IEM. I could afford a more expensive one but I don't think a headphone of any quality is worth that much money.

Well that's right, it's been proven by research even (Harman) that there isn't a correlation between price & preference, so I think it's sensible to limit your spending on a headphone to a certain level & one that you're comfortable with. Which headphones have you got at the moment? Have you got any on your radar at the moment or are you on the fence about one or some of them?

I'm a horder. My goal is to sell most of them and keep only 4 headphones. I can't really decide though...

Beyerdynamic DT 1990
Sennheiser 58x
AKG k7XX
AKG K240
Philips Fidelio X2
Focal Clear
Focal Clear MG
Hifiman Sundara
Audio Technica R70X
Audio Technica DSR7BT
Audio Technica M50
Bang & Olufsen H9i
Beyerdynamic DT880 600 ohms (on the way)
Beyerdynamic T1 2nd gen (on the way)

My Favorites:
Focal Clear MG (Perfect with no EQ needed, punchy basss, mids are amazing)
Beyerdynamic DT 1990 (energetic, bass is super "fast", too much treble but I like it)
Bang & Olufsen H9i (nobody talks about this headphone but it's my favorite bluetooth option, awesome bass and treble)

Which headphones have you got at the moment? Have you got any on your radar at the moment or are you on the fence about one or some of them?
Not in any specific order.
Headphones:
Sennheiser HD6XX
DCA Aeon RT closed
AKG K371
Beyerdynamic DT770 pro 250Ohm
Superlux HD668b
Sennheiser HD477

EIMs:
Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusk
TinHifi T2 plus
KZ DQ6
Blon BL-03

On the radar:
Headphones:
Denon AH-D5200
E-MU Teak
Hifiman Sundara

IEMs:
ThieAudio Oracle
Mangird Tea
Moondrop Variations
ThieAudio Legacy 4
Etymotic ER2XR
... some more but these ones are the highest on the list for now.

I'm looking forward to what will happen with Sennheiser headphones now. I hope they will release something very interesting in the near future.

In general I buy and sell in 1 to 6 months but the 1990 will remain. The attack is phenomenal. I have a question for solderdude: does the attack is totally killed by the dekoni pads you mentioned?
Oh my, I thought I was bad, impressive list.
