What headphone(s) do you own ?

Gave myself similar rules… I’m only allowed 2 each of over ear headphones and iems. Returning the Grells and selling some IEMs to get under the limit. Source gear is No Duplicates Allowed.

But dongles don’t count :)
But this is the thing... I used to produce music a while back, until my twins turned 7ish. Than I simply didn't have time for it - but than again, most synths can reproduce the sound in another synth, you just get GAS and need to collect them all lol. But since I have to spend on family vacations ets I simply don't have the cash anymore to invest on all fronts haha...

I'm just listening to "hifi" at home, so no IEM's for me. I won't be spending money for music when I'm around town - I can't focus on it anyway. I'd rather just have an alright NC earphone and call it a day - than enjoy my music when I'm at home :)

Sennheiser HD650s.
Hopefully they last as long as I do.

Sennheiser Momentum over ears V1. Great portable wired headphones.

Sennheiser M2I Earphones.
Fun sound. God awful cable.

Sennheiser M4 wireless
Ultimate in usability.

RIP: Sennheiser IE7s.
Tremendous. Wore 2 pairs out. Best cable (Kevlar?) ever put on 'phones.

Future: Would love to try a planar headphones.

Wireless
Bose quietcomfort 35 ii

I just purchased refurbished from amazon for when I don’t want to listen to whatever is on the television but other people do. They are more comfortable for me and have less “ self noise “ when turned on than the senn Hdb 630 that I had for a short time.

Dynamic -
Sennheiser hd650 - oldest set. I’ve had them forever.
Sennheiser hd630 - closed set
Sennheiser Hd520 - cheap and good sound

planar magnetic -
Verum 2 stock ported pads.
I’ve had these for a couple months.
I much prefer these to any headphone I’ve ever had. I have tinnitus pretty bad in my left ear from an explosion many years ago. Any other headphone will activate or irritate the tinnitus- some more than others. I can’t really handle a lot of volume with any of the others for very long but this set of Verum headphones can be played loud and for a long time without fatigue. It must be the angle of the driver or the thickness of the pads or the fact that they are a planar (never any others of this type of headphone before ). Lots of detail and tight bass and no ringing.. comfortable too. I hear detail in the left side and from behind my head that is unexpected and very good. These headphones also run fine on any amp or dongle. I have an old school integrated amp that I can’t take past 1/4 volume on the dynamic headphones but with the Verum you can just crank the volume without distorting so I’m not really sure why - current vs voltage? -

Do you mean the HD 630VB ?
Thank you - Model #Typo - it’s the 620s for closed back :)

And I just left the store with the new AirPod Max 2 - yes they are too expensive. Total Impulse buy. I haven’t read a single review of these. They sound great to me and figment is great. Big ear cups and no issues with my glasses. Very comfortable and well made. Very Apple.
Edit - the way there AirPods instantly integrate with the Apple TV is remarkable. I quite literally thought the sound was still coming from the screen when I connected the AirPods- that’s how well they have nailed the audio effects directionally- it’s amazing.

I present my Hifiman HE6SE that I've been using for the past week:

(I used jpgs this time to reduce file size!) They have been amazing so far, and fit my requirements perfectly! I wanted a headphone that had very low distortion (for maximum EQ flexibility), decent un-EQ'd frequency response, and be able to produce a good amount of bass. After applying an EQ that I made (designed to have the closest Harman 2018 compliance that I could get, from 20hz to 20khz), which is a mess of 37 filters, they are amazing, and I feel that they are very close to neutral now. I've also used Bose QC35II and Stax New Sr-3 in the past as well. If anybody would like to try my HE6SE EQ, it will be in the HE6SE thread.

Heh, you do not need that many filters and that tells me you definitely messed something up. Looking at its measured response, it seems to have decent treble above 4K, so I wouldn't EQ anything past that. It probably only needs about 3 filters to make it sound balanced (subjectively).

EQ-ing aggressively to a target might not make it sound (on your head) exactly as you see it in the graph.

Edit: This is what I use for my XV, and it's only two filters.

Why bother with hifiman headphones that measure like shit ?

Maybe because it's not true that they measure poorly? They are generally excellent headphones and extremely comfortable, and they also respond very well to equalization.
Out of all the headphones I've owned, my Arya Stealth are the only ones I decided to keep.
I preferred them even over the HD800s...

Have you ever owned or listened to any Hifiman?

No need to listen, they measure poorly and that's science.

I think you have a somewhat distorted concept of science.
Apart from the fact that the measurements don't indicate they measure poorly, headphones should always be listened to regardless, because even Amir himself has happened to greatly enjoy headphones that he personally measured and with apparently poor results.
Don't be dogmatic

Might change to the new RME ADI if/when it’s released, but I love this headphone.

Perhaps better wording would be 'Harman studies already showed that'.
The Harman studies did not solve anything. ;)
