Just curious ...
What headphone(s) do you currently own ?
Which one(s) is(are) used the most, or is your favorite ?
I hate headphones (and ear buds) due being tethered (I also feel that a cell phone is just an electronic leash).
But, when I must, I use A SENNHEISER RS 220 that has (according to SENNHEISER) Digital wireless uncompressed stereo sound from 16Hz-22KHz, operating on one of 3 channels between 2400-2483.5 MHz with a 30 meter range, leaving me free to move around (even to go in the yard and mow my grass while limiting ambient noise somewhat and having good background music.

Sold expensive stuff.
Left with:
Grell OAE1
Hifiman he400se
DMS Open Omega
Truthear pure

Moondrop pill - these are my go to when it comes to listening podcasts in the bed also during cardio.

Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7

I bought my MSR7 several years ago to replace a Sony MDR-V6. I liked the Sony's basic sound signature, but the highs got painful. When I came across a rack of demo headphones at a local computer and electronic store (those were the days), I plugged each one into my phone to see how they compared to the Sony. When I came to the MSR7, I knew right away that I found my headphones. The $250 price was more than I was planning to spend, but there wasn't much hesitation. It has been well worth it.

I don't find the MSR7 to be as bright as some reviewers say they are. I guess that's just personal preference. Some reviewers have also said they're so revealing that they'll punish you for listening to poor sources. In my experience, that's overstated. Although I usually grab my MSR7s for CDs and digital files, I've also enjoyed listening with them through my Sony STR-DH190’s headphone jack when streaming radio over Bluetooth from my phone.

Interesting thread! I've been using a couple of different headphones for music and calls, but I'm always on the lookout for something new. It's great to see so many detailed opinions here—gives me a lot to think about for my next upgrade.

I also now have a set of Koss Porta Pro Wireless. Really nice.

Re the previously reported cans: I broke my old pair of Koss KPH30i and replaced it with the same model. It's what I use at my desk for monitoring. The Sennheiser 58x Jubilee is usually plugged into the Boss RC-505mkII.

In terms of higher end planars, have the Para 2, Verum 2 and because of spousal complaints now the Noire X. While the open planars sound more ethereal (and are a lot more competitively priced), the bass slam of the closed Noire X is something else and getting lost in the music with the isolation is another something else.

That's why I've created closing caps. If you have 3d printer - you can print them yourself. In download section there is a project file. Sure, you'll need to stuff it with felt.

I may be sick in some way:
Owned and sold many times more than this.
definitely a horder...

Pioneer SE-300 ans SE305 (just out of curiosity, costed nearly nothing, not used)
Koss KSC35 and 2 pairs of KSC75 (have gotten lots of usage in the past)
Jays V-Jays (somewhat similar to Koss thingies)
AKG K518 (modified, still not great)
Fostex T50RP both modified and EQ'ed (have not been used for years, great sound though)
Beyerdynamic DT990-600 (oldie, used it for many years, not used any more but can't part with it)
Beyerdynamic DT1350 EQ'ed and nubuck pads (used these on vacation now and then, need EQ, very dynamic and good SQ to me)
HD250-Lin II
HD238 (modified, wife uses it on vacation)
Philips Uptown 1x (modified, good SQ, not in use anymore)
Superlux: HD681 (modified), HD687 proto (modified), HD688 proto (modified), HD671 proto + production (modified), HD672 proto + production (modified)
Sennheiser HD58X proto + HD58X production (modified and filtered) occasionally used
Sennheiser HD650 (old, black driver) (EQ'ed) has been used extensively in the past. Now in the drawer. Not gonna sell it.
Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro (modified) did not like the stock version.
Sennheiser HD800 (EQ'ed).
NAD VISO HP50
Beyerdynamic DT1770 and DT1990

Favorites: HD800 (EQ'ed), HD688 Proto (modified), the production version is not nearly as good, DT1350 (EQ'ed), KSC35, HD650 (EQ'ed), COP (modified), HD58X (modified and filtered), DT1770, DT1990
Most usage: HD800 (EQ'ed)/DT1990, a prototype headphone I cannot name alas and DT1770 (closed)
i want to hear DT 1350 so bad. they're so hard to find! Ever since Tyll reviewed them.

Hey, I've been using my HD800 for 10 years now and am considering something from Audeze for the sake of indulgence. Are they complimentary owning a set? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Nothing wrong with an EQ'ed HD800.
'Audeze' is very different in comfort and also needs EQ.

If it's only for the sake of indulgence then indulge yourself and buy all the Audeze (and EQ them) you want and would probable still end up using the HD800 the most (because of comfort, sound quality and weight).

own both the Sennheiser HD800s and Audeze LCD2.
Yes, Sennheiser is a bit more comfortable at first but the Audeze is just as good after a couple of minutes.
Slightly different sound signature but wouldn’t part with either, use them without any eq.

Sony WH-1000XM6, and I am pretty happy with them. But next time I will probably get smaller ones

First reply or post here on ASR. Just getting into the hobby. So far I have EMU Teaks & pair of ATH R50x. I’ll be getting some Verum 2’s in a couple of weeks hopefully. But the Teaks blow me away every time I use them. They were delivered just a couple of weeks ago & I’m still pretty excited about them.

Headphones:
HEDD D1
Sennheiser HD650
Grell OAE2

May return the Grells soon though. D1s are my daily driver but I've had the 650s for so long now and I don't think I could ever sell them.

IEMs:
Yu9 Que
Hisenior Mega7
Softears Volume S
Punch Audio Martilo (Currently for sale)
Moondrop x Crinacle Dusk (Just sold)

I mostly alternate between Que and Mega7. Que is my favorite but Mega7 is more neutral to my ear and I do love a good neutral. I bring in Volume S for head banging or intimate vocal tracks mostly.

First time poster here. Have really enjoyed this forum as well as Amir’s reviews.

Just went through a little bit of a headphone “redo” over the last few months. Sold several pairs and bought some new ones. Have been through many pairs over the years and am OK with EQ but have found that I prefer a neutral-ish/Harman turning that I can adjust slightly for my own tastes and less than perfect hearing. For all of my current headphones, I EQ with a bass boost of some sort (if required) and one to three parametric EQ points (if required) with usually 1 dB max of adjustment. In my experience if a headphone is too far off from my desired sound profile, using extensive EQ to adjust the sound never works to my satisfaction. I also rotate between headphones all the time depending on my mood, where I'm located, what kind of music I'm listening to, etc. One other note is that I like to listen at the lowest volume that gives me full range of sound.

My "get lost in the music headphones" for critical listening and pure enjoyment

Rarely used anymore (but can't let go)
Senn HD600

Wireless - mostly for travel or working around the house
Senn HDB630
B&W Px7 s2

Recently sold:
Audeze LCD-XC
Focal Clear
Focal Elegia
Shure 1840
Shure 1540

Have owned many others in the past. At this point I think (and hope :-)) that I’m set for a long time.

For equipment I have a JDS Labs Atom Amp/DAC 2 on my desktop, a Topping G5 and a Fosi DS2.
Actually added two more closed backs. Was looking for some better closed backs for times when I'm working (from home) and there happens to be a lot of external noise OR when I'm up extra late or early and don't want to emanate noise through my very open house. Kept searching and searching for higher end options but wasn't seeing any that appealed to me so, based on all the positive press, I took a gamble on the FIIO FT1. Honestly, for the price and and WITH A TON OF EQ it sounds really, really good. Not sure I would use it for critical listening but can be EQ'd to have a very detailed and fun sound with a ton of bass (even dialing the bass down a LOT). If you don't mind EQ then the FT1 is a no brainer...prefer it to the HD620s more often than not.

The FTI got me craving something even better in a closed back. Again kept searching and searching and finally "looked in my own backyard". Love the DCA Noire XO so much that I ended up buying the Noire X. The XO spends the most time on my head for both critical and fun listening and I couldn't be happier with the Noire X. Sounds very similar to the XO but in a closed back and, honestly, sounds more open then many open backs. Highly recommend the X if you're looking for nicer closed back. Also, IMO, the X and XO are best looking and best built headphones that I own.

I'm not really an "audiophile", I just love music and want some decent equipment to listen to the music on. So I've set up some rules for myself: I can only own - 1 pair of closed headphones - 1 pair open headphones - 1 dongle - 1 desktop amp/dac... they can only cost 300 euro a piece. If I buy something new I have to sell something I own :)
I just started with the headphone "hobby" so today I own:

FIIO FT1
Hifiman Anananda Stealth
FiiO BTR17
FiiO K11 R2R

Tbh I'm very happy with what I have, I probably won't change anything for a while - but I'll never pay more than 300 euros (or maybe 400 if inflation keeps going crazy) haha...

Gave myself similar rules… I’m only allowed 2 each of over ear headphones and iems. Returning the Grells and selling some IEMs to get under the limit. Source gear is No Duplicates Allowed.

But dongles don’t count :)
