What headphone(s) do you own ?

Hi there mate! My dad owns the HD 540 Reference II, Im planning to buy Hifiman Edition XS / Arya Stealth, how does these compare? the HIFIMAN will be my first pair, I really like how the Sennheiser sounds compared to my Sony, Bose and Sennheiser ANC headphones, it just feels a lot more cleaner and separated, I would like to hear how does the HD 540 Reference II and both the HIFIMAN compare :)
HiFiMan headphones have a different technology - planar diaphragm. They are usually larger in size and heavier than Sennheisers. Speaking of the sound profile, I hear them sound much brighter in the treble region. Some of them have unwanted resonances in their design that can make the sound less natural. Personally, I haven't found any of them that meet my needs as a Sennheiser replacement, so I no longer have HiFiMan headphones.

Arrived yesterday :)

I have a different take than johny. I own Sennheiser HD560S and HD800S plus Hifiman Edition XS. I give the Edition XS a big thumbs up as long as your head isn't too small. The Arya might end up being a better choice just because of the better strap system. The Edition XS is far better than my HD560S but doesn't quite sound as good as the HD800S (except for its better bass)

I recently purchased a sennheiser hd25 for my small collection, which also includes my favorite hifiman Edition XS. I like to run for my own pleasure and try to do it at least 3 hours a week. And of course, listen to music on the go. I've been using koss port pro in their various variants for ten years now, but they have a big drawback, they don't change or improve the emitter itself for generations. I wanted to find something high-quality, light and necessarily not full-size (it's hot in them), and thanks to the feedback from dear @solderdude, I just came across this version of the sennheiser hd25. I fully share the opinion in his review. I haven't seen anything better than the HD25 yet in terms of a small overhead and with such a smooth sound, well, in fairness, you can really lower it by 5-6dB at 150 Hz. And at 6 kHz, raise it by 6 dB. Hi-Fi for running is guaranteed.
P.S. the way, many people write about the severe compression and uncomfortable wearing of the HD25. But I don't agree with that. The clip is just great, but the ear pads, alas, are terrible. I have already ordered other D 70mm, there are many different ones. I liked the ones made of soft eco-leather for sweating, and the ones with velour lining for wearing.

I sold all my Staxes and amplifiers to finance the ELX, Buckeye Ncx500 and miniDSP Flex. I’m not sorry. Only left with the Senns800s and DCA E3.

I've gone through a bit of collecting phase recently...

Bang & Olufsen H4 Second Gen
Bowers & Wilkins PX5
Bowers & Wilkins PX7S2E
Grado SR80X
Hifiman HE400SE
Hifiman Sundara Closed Back
Sennheiser HD250BT
Sennheiser HD350BT
Sennheiser HD560S
Sennheiser Momentum 4
Sonos Ace
Sony WH-CH720N

Apart from the Sony and Grado's, most get listened to fairly regularly.

Cool, we've got some overlap, I've got HD800 (refurbed with new pads which have to be HD800s pads), HD560s, and HE400SE. I agree with you that the HD560s has better bass than the HD800 (even after EQ of both), but I use the HD560s and HE400SE more than the HD800 - I think I've managed a better EQ effort on those two, with the HD560s needing the least overall amount of EQ.

Focal Elear with clear pads Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. I'm very interested in the ZMF Bokeh and the HiFiMan Arya Organic.

at work - mixing radio, live classical concerts - I use a mix of sennheiser HD 280pro, beyer 770 and sennheiser HD25.
At home either sennheiser HD414, HD25 or the big mf AKG K1000
For both work and home listening I have found a new favourite - enter the new ADAM AUDIO H200 - a really great HP for both mixing and just listening :)

HD600 and HD650.In my opinion,HD650 is a semi closed back version of HD600.

Opinions are ... well.... opinions.
Both HD600 and HD650 are open headphones.
There is nothing 'semi' open, let alone, closed about either as they both do not have a sealed front volume (in fact the same pads are used) and both are open back.
They only differ in drivers and color scheme.

Sennheiser: HD800S
Stax: L700mk2, SR-009 and X9000
DCA: Expanse and Corina
Audeze: LCD-5
Equipment: all Benchmark except for the RME UCX III, a custom transformer based energizer and a speaker selector (XLR4, speakers or energizer).

More of a collection as no one needs this many headphones. I use VSG's and Oratory1990's EQ curves and generate settings for RME's UCX III's RoomEQ (which lets you store 16 presets, so I just use one preset per headphone) using this site: https://autoeq.app/ (thinking it uses the Harmon 2018 target, but can't remember).

Have you attempted going freestyle on the PEQ settings and adjusting by ear to see what comes of that?
