What gain setting?

I've just bought a Hypex stereo amplifier with low, medium, and high gain settings. My digital source selector is an RME ADI-2 Pro fs r black edition, from which I send two different digital outs to a MiniDSP Flex 8 for final D/A conversion and line out to the amp. The MiniDSP device has a max 2V output. The speakers are DIY Heissmann DXT-Mon-182, which are nominal 4 ohms. I high-pass them at 60hz if that matters. Do these specs help me determine what gain setting to use for the Hypex amp?

Just try the lowest one, and if you run out of volume, then go to medium.

Hi,
Possible to use the rme for the conversion for stereo amp and flex upstream for volume, dsp etc? Just a thought. Other than that, the lowest possible gain that lets you play as loud as you ever would

I have a similar set-up (Purifi amps in my case).

Set the power amp to low gain and benefit from the ADI's brilliant gain-ranging hardware.
