Wow -- I can't envision sitting this thing in my living room, but can you image watching the film Earthquake with that pounding away?

What about the film...did you like it?
 
Always loved Village of the Damned; I consider it one of Carpenter's most underrated films of the 90s. Can it compete with Halloween and The Thing? Of course not. But it's one of those remakes that I think just works better than the original (a la Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead).

I saw it in theaters when it came out in 95, and I always kick off the Halloween horror film viewing season with the DVD.

not played the laserdisc dts , since i got it 8 years ago ? only seen twice , once vhs rental p/s and laserdisc

Yes, I'm from the States; don't watch cinema with subtitles unless they're baked in because of a different language being spoken in the film.
