Just to reiterate: This thread was created to share viewings of content on disc.

Is there another already started thread that focuses on what films were last watched in general? If so, I didn't see it, but if there isn't one, I suppose all comments are welcome here.

The Roy Andersson movies (Songs From The Second Floor, You the Living, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch) are part of a UK box set as shown in post #33, and The Box Man is also a UK B-D depicted in the same post.

So then what was the purpose of the previous post that included a link?

Not being snarky -- genuinely asking. :)

For some, it may serve as an introduction to Andersson's works, as they're underrepresented in markets like the USA. In fact, much of my physical library is of non-USA movies which tend to get overlooked in favor of the big Hollywood franchises.

meh , remixed no doubt near field , new sound effects added distraction , additional same music used overhead surround made no sense distracting , nothing more less like the event saw in 70mm sensurround 1975 , opened at abc screen 1 november 1974 i think , with the towering inferno in screen 2
this went into the cat litter as it was partly in some ways distracting cash cow

there are sine wave tones replaces the pink noise on previous 5.1 discs
25Hz 35Hz 44Hz

twister atmos near field mix ( no true theatrical mix dynamics ) ended up in the cat litter for fake overhead surround mixing , i get a pioneer laserdisc player and some JBL cinema speakers and then you'll get the eventful dynamic range !

There may be some kind of disconnect here, but I still don't understand the relevancy of what was pointed to in the link.

This DVD's anamorphic widescreen transfer is atrocious -- looks like a port over from the HBO HD transmission, which was never that great. Was one of Warner's first "flipper" discs in the dreaded snapper case.

The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is adequate, but dated. Dialogue is a bit low compared to the rest.

I agree about the sound on this one -- even played back as Dolby TrueHD in my system, the mix was just empty. And the bass response definitely could have been better.

Picture was jaw-dropping, though; never saw this film look this good.

Waiting for the eventual release of Towering Inferno.

Gotta disagree with you on this one; the 4K's sound mix is incredible IMO, even running the core TrueHD signal. This was a definite upgrade from the DVD I lived with for years, as that transfer was awful -- the DTS sound, while revolutionary for the time, sounded like garbage compared to the Atmos remix.
