Copland CSA 70 / 100 / 150 almost all in one integrated amplifier series. pretty awesome gear imo:

Not long into my audition of Copland's CSA150, I began to feel a little annoyed that, at some point, I'd have to unplug it and send it back. Reviewer remorse isn't quite as galling as buyer remorse, but it is still 'a thing', and this £4988 hybrid tube integrated had given me a bad case of it. Hybrid? Yes, for the CSA150 looks to be an upscaled CSA100 [HFN Aug '20] combining a 6922 double-triode and solid-state FETs in its preamp stage, driving a bipolar transistor amplifier output. Perhaps keen to avoid overselling the benefits of this architecture, Copland warns buyers not to expect 'the warm and nice, coloured charm of some older tube designs'.

"lab test":

btw, i wonder why Copland sticks with one 6922 when they could have easily done without it...

:)

Hey @amirm any interest to test an Apple Airport Express? Negative: discontinued. Positive: remains a very handy solution, cheap, curiosity. I've an unused unit sitting around.

More all in one Devices.

The Shanling EM5 for example. DAC, streamer, media center, Headphone amp.

Or the Shanling EA5 as amplifier version.

The Cambridge EVO 75 / 150 compared to something from naim and others.

Has the new NAD already been measured?

Possible solutions:

Move lab to ground floor.
Hire a man servant to do the heavy lifting.
Get a dumb waiter installed.
Get a high lift capable indoor flying drone to fly it to your lab. :)
Get a set of hand trucks (one with large inflated tires). These can be much easier on your back going up and down stairs.
I totally agree with the above… we cannot (!) have you or your wife out of commission!!

This would have been interesting to see. How good is a vintage?: :)

Surely there must be someone who has such headphones that can be sent to Amir?

I have a suggestion for a test / article:

Instead of USB DAC using AP as source, have the USB DAC use a computer motherboard as a source.

How much more noise will a dongle have vs well-designed standalone DAC?

This: people are hearing all kinds of things. Lol
Pink noise fed into and amp powering speakers.
Measure DC rail, FFT, ripple, etc., with and without.

I might be willing to buy it as long as I get it back before the return window. Amazon has them.

A thing that's not really mentioned here, but that would be nice to see is how good (or bad) onboard audio is doing in 2021/2022. It's probably still way off from good USB DACs, but I was wondering if e.g. a SupremeFX S1220A (as found e.g. on the Asus ROG STRIX B660-I GAMING) or the ALC 4080 (as found e.g. on the Asus ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING) would maybe have acceptable measurements or if it's still rather terrible.

Id like to see a speaker tested with a dome tweeter, first in perfect condition, 2nd with a dented or partially pushed in.

Seen 10,000 used sale adds with tweeters in various states of damage that say "doesn't effect sound". I have my doubts.

I'd be interested to see, what the measurements from this CD player look like,
after the guy threw out the OPAs, and put the DAC right on the tube...

Just noticed that phono preamps are the least asked for items in the poll. Wonder what the figures would be, if Polled on Analogue Planet.

+1 to one box streaming solutions, nad c700, cambridge evo etc. This is the way many of us now listen to music or would like to.
