What does the "enable moderation" button do?

If you click on your profile picture at the top, and then "your content", you get a button like this:

What does it do???

After pressing "direct message", and a few more buttons, I then get this:

And more buttons:

Then I got scared and pressed the cross button.
 
Seems a poor choice of title by Xenforo, but the functionality is comparable to standard moderator functionality.

In this case, if you select enable moderation, you will get options that allow you to more readily manage your direct messages.

Ahh, thanks! So it's not a button to enable moderators (i.e. you) to "moderate" my content in some way.

(I see now that I did have a direct message in my content, and that was what 'select all' does).
"Leave direct message" is even more confusing, but I think it's basically like leaving a chat group? (since direct messages can have more than 2 participants?)
