What do you think of the Yamaha R-N803 Stereo Receiver?

What is it that appeals to you? I ask because it's not cheap for the power and not especially high-performing.. Do you have any other components on hand that you could add bits to to achieve what you want?

I'm kind of a minimalist. The alternative to something like this would be a laptop, an integrated amp, and something like a MiniDSP DDRC-24 as DAC/DSP for (arguably much better) room correction.

The R-N803 might not be as good, but it's an all-in-one box, mostly used for background music at moderate levels. I can also get it for $550 or so, much cheaper than laptop + integrated amp + DDRC-24.
