I have already gotten a new unit from the store - I'm just curios to what could have happened or if anyone has encountered something like it.
I've had a Marantz Cinema 70s receiver for almost a year and recently started hearing distortion on loud peaks in music every now and then and it did not matter what level I played it at. I recorded the Pre out into my computer and could see that it was clipping where I was hearing the distortion. It happened anytime I used Airplay or used Spotify Connect or music through HDMI. If I played from my TV with optical connection I could lower the optical output on the TV from 100 to 99 and that was enough to make it not clip.
Maybe this could be just about anything (DAC failure, software issue?) but I just thought I could take a shot here and see if someone had an idea.
(The 3 waveforms are all Pre out left channel on a song but just different playback examples: Spotify Connect, Optical from TV with lowered level and analog input)
/M
