What CD Player would you like to see tested?

Well... what I can say is that it lost 2bits in the process:

This is the left channel, the right one does a little better.

It still is a "perfect" transport though:

I wouldn't have expected the data to actually be "hollowed out."

The correct answer to my question would be "only if you knock on it."

Someone really cheap. Measure its RCA out and check if the signal is completely transparent via its digital out.

For example this one. By the way, isn't Denver considered a junk brand?

Edit:
In addition to a transparent signal, it is a question of; reliability, whether it feels super plastic or not, in the worst case, even if it is new, if it makes mechanical sounds when the record spins for example. Something to consider if you were to buy something super cheap (in Sweden that Denver player costs $39), that is.

Is there any audible differences between any modern CD players?

All they have to do is skew the FR a bit. I know TEAC do that with the 701. There's probably others.
Is that to get some sort of house sound? I know modern DACs will sound the same, I guess they could alter the output stages?

FR rolls off very gradually from 10Khz and up. TEAC say CD sounds better that way.

I think there's been DACs measured here where some of the filter options roll the FR off early enough to be audible to some people with some music programme. It's going to be subtle at best of course.

Not a CD player, but would a Wadia Digimaster X-64 be of your interest?

This is a busy summer ;)
In some ways, the behavior of the digital filter as measured with periodic white noise reminds me of your measurements of DENON CD players using the Alpha (latter AL24, then AL32 Processing).

Hello everyone,

I’ve been testing CD players for some time now, and I was wondering what’s next in the list.

So far, I tested the below:

And to come soon:
  • Accuphase DP-70
  • Denon DCD-655
  • Kenwood DPF-1010
  • Sony CDP-450 (DOA)
  • Sony CDP-597
  • Yamaha CDX-530E (DOA)
With all the above, I basically tested and got to know/measure what I wanted, especially about ancient DACs (in a CD player).

So the question to you is: Which one would you like to see reviewed next?

Of course, I don’t have the budget to satisfy everyone’s needs, but if I can find, at a reasonable price, a CD player of your interest, I’ll go for it.

Thank you and enjoy the WE!
Hi I would love to see you fully test a Denon DVD-A1 please ☝️... This particular model was the very last to use one of the finest Burr-Brown DAC's it's R2R Burr-Brown X4 1704 DACs per channel in Dual-Mono differential mode in Stereo !!! Despite the A1 age it will still even in 2025 give vast majority of players a run for their money in my honest opinion ☝️.mmm mmm I would love to see this pitched against the Original Denon DCD-3560 ..ha.ha or the standalone A1 review would be awesome.

This particular model A1 was created an produced during Denon glory days and it's ridiculously over engineered brilliance ! It's so darn incredibly good in Pure Direct mode in Stereo it absolutely smashed my Marantz SA-15S1 !!!

Unfortunately, I gave it to my brother 2 years ago, who… lost it… Can you believe that? I don’t

I used this DVD player to train myself on measurements because it had a digital input. And it’s with this one that I created my very first test CD. I did not record much of the measurements, that was my biggest mistake. But what I kept tells me it was a really nice CD/DVD player.
I could potentially do a "light" review with what I recorded at the time.

It would be nice to get a test of the much-praised Onkyo C-7030 player, which has been on sale for a long time.

Ahhh dam !!! The A1 has now become almost super rare to get .....Yes please anything you could do as a review..it definitely should really sit above the 3910 I used to have that and a 3930 and the 3930 beats the 3910 !...Then again I personally believe owned all those players and even a A11 the A1 beats them all . Anyway anything you could do please would be greatly appreciated. I managed to very quickly snap one up last year from its original owner he had it and never used it sat in his rack . I throught he was joking but he was not it was brand new ! Everything complete by far the finest Redbook player I've ever owned to date ..
It's such a very "musical" sounding unit . This was Denon during it's very last super best decade. Ridiculously well over engineered brilliance ! How did you manage to lose a Player of this calibre ....that's one serious regret dude .Big Oops ....
