amazon light-years x infinity grade that only costs less than £50 for light-year lengths is what i use and doesn't cost the cost of the expanding universe just plain common sense .Someone on Reddit mentioned that @amirm uses $10k worth of cables in his system. Lol.
Don't you use Amazon Basics, Amir?

Only if you have really badly designed gear and use it inside a factory with huge electrical tools.Hi to Everyone
I have a question about power cables
Are there benefits from using shielded ones? Which?
Where benefits are mostly evident?
Thanks a lot
Hi how do you connect the 3 wires to get the plus and minus?PC -> DAC: Generic USB 3.x
DAC -> Sub (line in): Profigold PGA3000
Sub (line out) -> Dynaudio MC15 (active): AudioQuest Chicago (factory terminated; amazed how good it is and considering upgrading to bulk-DIY Mackenzie)
Also considering upgrading speaker power cables from noname PC-grade garbage to THICC 3x2.5 "just normal AC cable" with Chinese fake Oyaide connectors (all that for roughly $20 per one cable). Just because WHY NOT
They can come handy if someone wants to connect chassis's together on top of the common ground connection.Only if you have really badly designed gear and use it inside a factory with huge electrical tools.
Shielded power cables are used for gear that *generates* noise, to avoid radiating it elsewhere.
no. only in circumstances that are very unusual for home (and if that is the case, you have much bigger problems to worry about)Hi to Everyone

At present i am using diy ones made out of flexible extension cord and better than average plugs but nothing expensive
Thanks a lot
I would recommend against it. The DCR is higher unless you go ridiculously thick, and even more seriously, the high mechanical creep of aluminum almost guarantees that the connections will be unreliable over time.Friend needs new cables, 2x 5m.
Are we ok with copper plated aluminium cable if they are thicker, so the resistance would be the same as if it where a thinner copper cable?
Are they stiffer than copper maybe?
