@amirm - please test Edifier S2000MKIII or S3000 Pro, also would be great to see new really cheap Edifier R2850DB.
Maybe also Klipsch R-51PM.

Thank you.
hahh, S3000PRO is what I'd like to see - or maybe not, because I like them. But I think the price is somewhat higher than the budget range here.

Edifier R1855DB, Edifier R2850DB, Airpulse 300 Pro, Swans Hivi M3A, Swans Hivi M3A MKII, Swans Hivi M5A, Wharfedale Diamond 12.2, Dynaudio Emit 10 and 20, Mission LX-3 MKII. Anything above that is easily attainable and not too costly.

Yeh I'd be very interested to see how any of the Edifier AirPulse range do.
[...Founder CEO said he likes the AirPulse 200 the most, because so much development work went into, being the first of the range, and his wife prefers it. :) ]

Another plug for a Cambridge Audio: Cambridge Audio ES20 outdoor speakers. Widely available on the Cambridge Audio eBay page, refurbished for $119 each.

Seconded regarding the Swans/HiVi speakers.

They've just released the D100 in China- approx 1000 yuan or 150 USD for a planar isodynamic paired with a 4" woofer from their well regarded M*N line. Would be fantastic value if they measure flat.

It would also be great if Amir could measure some of their slightly higher end stuff, like the Zeos meme M3A.
I personally own an old pair of DIY Swan M1s and have been very happy with them.
Another vote for the D100, Amazon cost is $200 for the 4”:

The description talked about using a PVC baffle with chamfered edges for reduced diffraction, which is nice to see. The woofer having its only little waveguide is also nice to see.
________
The M3A looks like an active version of the 3.1A kit, which a modded version was reviewed:

I am thinking it may make sense to buy a few budget but popular speakers to test. Or alternatively members buying and donating them to be tested. :)

So what is "in" these days as far as budget speakers? I am thinking under $200 for a pair.

Second hand speakers.

Pick a few golden oldies and see how low you can go when sourcing them.

A bit of restomodding to get them back into alignment with Toole. And then spinorama before and after.

Some food for thought when people consider upgrading their speakers.

The Bose Companion 2 speakers certainly qualify as budget at $99 a pair. I'll go out on a limb and confess that their sound is a pleasant surprise, at least in my small listening room.

They are about 200 Euros/pair and sound pretty good at my computer desk (compared to my Neumann KH 120). I wonder why these don't get more attention. In that price range people usually only talk about the JBL 305P MKII which IMO sound worse. The very few reviews you can find online also say they are great for how much they cost.

Second hand JBL 105’s of 70’s vintage for obvious reasons.
