Willie Nelson - Stardust
This recording has been an oft visited recording in my library since very shortly after it's release in 1978.
IMHO truely a R2D4 piece of music that no library should be without.
Bumped into Robert Baird's "Recording of the Month" article for the March issue of Stereophile. In it he describes it's qualities in ways much better than I could. Be sure to give the complete album a listen at least once no matter your opinion of Nelson.
"Titled after its opening track, Hoagy Carmichael's almighty ballad, Stardust became a monster hit, reaching No.30 in Billboard's Top 200 chart, No.1 in Top Country Albums, and winning Nelson a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal performance, for "Georgia On My Mind." By early in this century, Stardust had been certified quintuple platinum: 5 million units sold."
