I haven't listened to AM radio in many years. The only AM radio stations left in my area are either religious stations or conservative talk radio, and neither of those are what I want to listen to.

When I was perhaps 8 or 9 years old, I remember listening to a local AM station at night with the volume very low and my parents thinking I was asleep. That was an old GE "All American Five" radio. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_American_Five

I restored and modified this AA5 from 1933. The cabinet, polished; the speaker reconed, and the electronics, all new. The big 4uF cap replaces the heater drop resistance.
