The mix tape I’m jamming, from vinyl. They took forever and you had to be careful with the level as I’m sure you remember.
I think Denon did a great job with this turntable, the factory isolation feet are levelers with tactile clicks. Everything I touch is metal or wood, I’m in love. Sounds like a turntable but it’s the nicest one to play with I’ve ever had and the Waxwing “magic” is super nice.
OK, I get it now. For various reasons I never owned a cassette deck, only a few reel to reels over the years. The last I bought was the very nice Pioneer RT707 in hopes of there being a market coming for good pre-recorded tapes, something that would offer better sound quality than vinyl. Sadly in the end, the best that came out in the rock/pop genre that I loved were 2track, 3 3/4 ips tapes from the Columbia music club. In short they mostly sounded horrible.
Once the CD came out I dumped it all for peanuts.
Cassettes were always about convenience for me, they sure did/do sound poor. ART helps the good ones sound pretty ok (maybe a stretch) now. I never really chased hi-fi until recently and as you should be able to tell I don’t chase it all the way all the time. Music reproduction is a lot of different things for me but always enjoyable. Sometimes it’s the fidelity that makes me smile, especially now that I can really get my groove on at home like never before. ...saw these guys play this on The Tonight Show...they were terrible, but I had to hear more...

Reminds me, German hifi dealers have been using Psytrance for demonstration purposes since the 2000s. They know why: superbly produced, spectacular sound, fast tight bass from drug hell, still enough "traditional" musical quality to woo even the oldschool boomers.
Got this album from dad who got it from a hifi store (who sold lots of snake oil too lol):
