Sonny Sharrock - Portrait of Linda in Three Colors, All Black

Glorious. Been listening to Sharrock since forever and I like doing so more and more as I age (Ask The Ages, they'll say).

I have a theory that one can look at expressionist improvisation using a dimension of spirituality from egotistical (Trane, Hendrix) to ecstatic (Ayler, Sharrock). Both have their virtues but with the egotistical spiritual improvisers I need to be in tune with that person's spirit to really enjoy. Sharrock is the Ayler of guitar. Awesome.

When I get home after a long day at work, I plop on the couch and put this on. It's like a meditative release and de-stresses me. I hope it blows up like Angine De Poitrine.

I just realized there's a joke here: When you want to play like Merzbow and they offer you a choice between a Fender Twin Reverb and a Roland Jazz Chorus 120.

Sorry to upset all those hiding in their basements since 1999..
I quite liked this - not a long termer or a spectacle:
A weird type of fusion?

I think both are used here for subtle tonal blending. The Roland smoothes out some of the edges from the big muff.

It's cool. Not really fusion. Fusion is short for jazz/rock fusion and there's really no jazz here. I'd say it's psychedelic rock (psych for short) but with less jam than, say, Hawkwind, sounds a bit like one or two Kraut rock bands (Amon Düül II) and maybe a bit like one or two of the "post-rock" bands at the end of the last millennium (Tortoise, Trans Am, for example).

Thanks for linking it. If you don't mind the bother, some of us really appreciate if you can include the artist and title as text in your posts. Lots of music on YouTube is country/region blocked and there are a number of other reasons, including accessibility and privacy.

I'm listening to a selection from Spotify, "Joe Cocker's Greatest Hits." Most excellent! I always liked that guy.

Regards

Yes, fair enough, I have not learned my genre definitions - the sax fooled me. I thought it was some kind of modern folk.
And OK! - since you seemed to appreciate me dragging many of the of rest of ASR from "Hall & Oates - Greatest Hits Volume 0.5 - Total Whining Misery When Suffering A Prolapse", I will try to include some text! :)

Actually, I cannot believe many people check posted links, unless the date is pre-80's!
