Now, this I thought was interesting. Here’s a good example of newer isn’t necessarily better. I just come across this remaster of one of my favourite albums of all time in the audiophile space. Jen Warnes – The Hunter.
This album has been with me many years for audio enjoyment, and a pretty much fantastic recording as well. I don’t have any idea what this remaster was about as I thought the original was pretty much the epitome of hi-fi sound, but I actually think they’ve made it worse
The thing has had some enhancements / embellishments if you can call them that, and bits added to the mix which is generally pretty much identical, but overall I think it sounds just a tad worse. The vocals are not so well-defined as the original and don’t sound as organic to me anyway.
Not sure what 29 years of audio development has gone into. Drinking coffee perhaps
I’m going to read the reviews now if I can find them.
