What are we listening to right now..

New York-born, South India-raised and California-based multi-instrumentalist and scholar Ganavya melds spiritual jazz and south Asian classical music with ambient textures to create an otherworldly, transcendent experience.

She has collaborated with the likes of Quincy Jones, bassist and composer Esperanza Spalding and appeared as a guest vocalist at the much publicised debut performance of enigmatic soul collective Sault last year.

Her latest album, “like the sky I’ve been too quiet” released in March 2024, is a largely improvised collection of music recorded over three days in London in January 2023 with British jazz artist Shabaka Hutchings on production duties. It features contributions from some of contemporary jazz’s finest musicians with producer Floating Points and multi-instrumentalist Leafcutter John providing eerie electronic textures throughout.

A lovey tone, is she a baritone voice?
The mid-ranges love her.

I'd rank Broken Frame as one of my all-time personal favs, all tracks Billboard worthy in my opinion. Two brothers (heavy into Industrial) which I had the pleasure of being good close friends with introduced me to the Band during the late 80"s if memory holds true. Unfortunately gone much to soon, and that's a large capital U. One outcome that has puzzled me over the years is, why we have no closure as to cause of death even after a full autopsy performed. I can't seem to wrap my mind around this one, after hearing stories from trusted sources that on occasions (although it's rare) autopsy results do indeed come back with nothing found. Then hearing years later that Kristian brother of, took his brother's passing diamond hard and self medicated to the point of no-return. Damn! Feelings, such a tragic ending for such good people and great friends. Hmm, Depeche Mode day perhaps, most certainly.

Anywho, carry on Planet Earth music lovers.

Cioccolata (1985) - some hilarious Japanese New Wave with a case of italophilia:
Whatever planet Japanese New Wave is on, I guess I wouldn't mind living there...

EDIT - And now something decidedly more somber:
Douji Morita - Wolf Boy
Her sad but beautiful music is quite niche, but man, what an artist. Listening to her entire discography may be a good sign for a depressive episode, BTDT.
