Howlin Wolf - The Chess Box
Horrible SQ. But 3CD's, 200+ minutes of the best Chicago style blues you'll find anywhere.
The set pulls a pretty penny anywhere you try to purchase it but thank goodness for streaming. Considering the poor SQ, Spotify 320 is plenty sufficient to deliver all that's in the digital pits.
I've been listening to some great jazz piano recorded in the late 1950's and early 1960's on Tidal - wonderful recording quality probably due to simple mic techniques and good analog engineering practices, i.e. no "loudness wars". I can recommend "Empathy" by Bill Evans and Shelley Manne as well as "Perform: A Tribute to Clifford Brown" by the Ramsey Lewis Trio and Lem Winchester.
