Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary speaker review & measurements by Erin's Audio Corner

If that would be the case I think they’d have the same issue as with the Dovedale… Not many people will buy them.

I’m not sure many people would pay double what the Linton is for 2 extra inches and a slightly bigger box.

All a bit pointless saying this though, as we know nothing about the speaker yet.
True. Just a guess. Makes no sense to build a whole new speaker only a few pounds more , who would buy the existing Linton?

You were closer.

Upgrades like this don’t come for free.

Wharfedale’s Super Linton will sell for £1999/€2299/US$2499 per pair with the matching stands – or £1849/€1999/US$2299 per pair without – when they go on sale

So it seems unfortunately not a larger cabinet or drivers but still 8" woofer and just updated drivers and crossover.
The crossover seems to have a nice upgrade though:

Yes, I was anticipating more changes. I wonder if the existing Linton will go on sale and be phased out? More of a replacement than a new gap filling speaker between Linton and Dovedale.

That was fast you can already order them.

My bad. I couldn’t believe they would introduce another step in between Lintons and Dovedales.

I’d love to hear a Sandwich 250 vs Super Linton comparison.

They focus on the more cuestionable decisions of the Linton in order to fit in a reasonable price tag. Now better insulation, better crossover, better internal cabling, and better treble unit.

5cm taller speaker may help for a better treble placement and additional volume will help the bass impact. Hope the width doesn’t change so that I could use my current Linton Stands.

They use the same stands.

With hand-matched wood veneers in walnut, mahogany, or black satin, the SUPER LINTON seamlessly integrates into any space. It pairs with the original LINTON Stand, preserving its compact footprint while adding a touch of elegance and LP storage functionality.

Wharfedale now published the story behind the Super Linton. I have to admit that they have become pretty good at retaining their customers:

ooh, nice, thoughtful upgrades. Happy about the better tweeter and woofer, just would have liked a better mid. Resolution in the midrange is the one area of the Linton that I actually care to see improved but it's not bad, just not as good as some other $2000+ speakers. Tighter bass is also a plus, one area where the Linton gets a little muddy at volume. Also, very cool that they included a two-layer cabinet that sounds like it has a constrained damping layer. I think I will sell my Linton's to get these. The only other thing I could have asked for I suppose is if these had had a 10" woofer, that would have been killer.
