I think I must hate bass because I found even on the 12.1 that 10cm wasn't really enough... but no room correction or EQ, so I'm not sure how much your room correction changes the bass - not very familiar with these things. I also had it very close to my TV (only about 1" between speakers and TV).

Got the Diamond 12.2 a month back and fell in love with them, I now listening to almost everything on them and starting to neglect my other costlier speakers. To my ears, they sound so smooth yet do not lack clarity. Mids produced by the 12s are exactly to my taste, forward, crystal clear with body and sweet sounding. Its just what I want from a speaker. There is not one thing I dont like about these, and I have owned and own quite a few speakers including the Diamond 225, Q.A 3030i, Dali Oberon 3, Polk Reserve R100 (wished I had the R200 though), the orginal KEF LS50, JBL Studio 590, l and Wharfedale Crystal 4.3, 4.1 and 4c to name a few.

Any Diamond 12 owners here be it the 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 12,3 or 12.4? What are you pairing them up with and how is it working out for you? Positioning and placement?Any measurements you have taken personally or come across any measurements in other forums you wished to share? Any mods done to improve the speakers? Would be great to hear anything and everything from the owners!
What were your thoughts on the Wharfedale Crystal 4.3s overall? Really curious to hear the feedback that you and others have. :)

Just want to share this video. It's the best explanation about speaker port I could find.

So, for those who don't have enough space on the back, put the sock in the rear port is fine! I've done that with all my rear ported speakers, and notice in my own experience that it does not affect sound quality. So, just found this video that explain my experience. If you use subwoofer, just turn up the crossover frequency of the subwoofer and you lose virtually nothing.

What's better for nearfield desktop use, near wall. Diamond 12.0 or 12.2 with plugged ports?

The 12.2s are probably too big for desktop use, IMHO.

Would Kali lp6v2 be better than diamond 12 for desktop use? If so, why?
We are on the wharfedale owners thread, so I am not gone answer that question, but most active speakers are designed for nearfield listening and they excel at that. Start a new topic and I am sure the good people around here will answer all your question.

Yeah, that's like 300W or so, probably too much if you crank it up.
It's 48w at 8ohms actually with 32v5a psu. I saw a few people mention aiyima doesn't power ub52 properly so wondered if anyone tried it with diamond 12 series. UB52 is 85dB at 6ohms though, 12.2 is 88dB at 8ohms.

IMO it's whichever you can find used at a good price - in my experience buying speakers brand new is a waste of money man - try out the classifieds at StereoNET.

From measurement, elac dbr62 seems to be better than wharefdale 12.2. From my listening experience, I prefers wharfedale 12.2 (still curious why 12.2 sounds nicer when objectively dbr62 looks better).

For 12.0 vs 12.1 vs 12.2, I always prefers 12.2 (even with plug) and I have a good reason. 12.2 has bass low enough that could cover most music genres. For 12.2, you are still fine without subwoofer (unless you're a fan of music that has really low bass). For 12.0 and 12.1 without subwoofer, you would feel you've missed something.

Would 12.2 be too much for desktop use? I'm not sure whether I should get 12.0 because desk is only 160x80cm and it's not a very sturdy desk, thin ikea desk. And speakers would be close to a wall.
If I get 12.0 I'm thinking I could get a subwoofer to play on low volumes(I'm in an apartment and don't want to disturb neighbours. Where as with 12.2 I couldn't reduce bass since no tone controls on Aiyima A07.
Also I'm thinking, 12.0 should be enough for metal, classical, jazz right? Maybe rap and electronic music would sound off?

@robot34 -- just my experience of course -- but I bought a pair of 12.0s not too long ago for nearfield use on my desktop. I chose the 12.0s because the 12.1s or 12.2s would have been too large, and my desk is not exactly small (about 6 x 3.5 ft.)

Anyway, I love the 12.0s. I can definitely recommend them. And I would not want anything larger for desktop use.
