Wharfedale Aura 2 review by ErinsAudioCorner

It would have been really interesting if you had Balboa 30's to compare to the Aura since both are 3-way

Been eyeing Kef Q Concerto meta but this caught my eyes as it could be had for ~1100EUR. Any reason not to? This will be used in a home theatre configuration

It's cool to see the designer commented on the video, slightly disappointed in the studio monitor comments and encouraging subjective opinions but I suppose he still has to toe the company line

Two points.
- "it is the power response, not the on-axis"; I didn't know that, as Dr. Toole in my understanding tells the contrary
- "a lot of recordings"; he is to change the balance of the record played?

Kind of funny, as the AMT might be chosen for its superiority in some aspect, but actually that is just and only the certain (odd) directivity and then after, exactly that property needs to be addressed with disecting on-axis from power at will. O/k, the tonal balance resulting from power is going to be altered by the individual room, as with every chamber concert, right? Neither switch here, nor there.

And finally the record industry needs to be corrected by speaker manufacturers. We might hope, that none of the studios is going to shape their product to match the speaker, as that would invalidate the effort on the latter side leading to a death spiral ;-)

I ended up going Aura 3. In a medium room they are loud, so the Aura 2 would've probably been fine as well. The 3's are deceptively large/heavy, so if you're thinking 4's you should have a huge space.

Blending them with a subwoofer now. While the 3's reportedly dig a little lower, there are no measurements out there so I am using the Aura 2 measurements and have it crossed over at 70hz, which sounds nice (and preserves my modest 60w amp power, sending low end to a 1500w sub). I suppose you could not run a subwoofer but I am spoiled with sub 30hz

can get a pair of Aura 4 for ~2400EUR, new of course, and I will be lying if I say I'm not considering it o_O

I'm caught between two stools right now. Aura 2 without stands locally for €1399, or Linton 85's with stands for similar price. Linton Superdooper not an option. Cannot audition at home. I'll use third party stands if I get the Aura, I'm not paying the price for their garish stands

Room is open plan. SWMBO requires hifi and TV at one end, space is 12' x 12', wall on 3 sides, you can see M20 speakers in the photo so this is the arrangement..

Can't have speakers more than 1' ish into room. Much as I prefer the aesthetics of the Linton, I'm thinking the Aura 2 would be the better choice. I like good accurate bass and midrange, not bright, good clarity, and ability to keep pace with complex music from Architect to Zappa. Listening will be mostly seated on sofa, music and cinema. Thoughts from the collective?
