Wet Shavers...

Good old Mühle R89 with Personna blades. Brush is handmade curled birch with a synthetic knot from a guy here in Germany. Usually Sterling soaps, but occasionally other stuff.
Rarely I will use other blades or a straight razor, but only when I get to have a relaxed day which is not that often.

I use Italian products: Proraso soap, Proraso green aftershave, and Omega shaving brush. In Italy, these are the standard in supermarkets. Elsewhere in the world, they're sold as "high-end"... at many times the price. Very good, in any case. I go to Italy regularly and stock up.

Feather Popular Japanese double-edged razor, very smooth, very well made, as only the Japanese know how. And very "popular" for the price.

Voskhod Russian blades. A few years ago, they were the least expensive while being the smoothest and sharpest. Now the prices have quadrupled... luckily, I have a large stock.

For years, I shaved with Gillette and I didn't know any better. Then Gillette ran those man-hating ads a few years ago. I knew I was going to switch, but I didn't know what to switch to. Schick maybe? Something else?

I started reading about double edged safety razors and I bought one. No swivel head, so you have to be a bit more careful, but I got the hang of it. These days I spend less than 20 cents per blade, compared to $15 per cartridge.

So... No one said boo about Harry's!

I am advertisement-averse, but I get glimpses of Harry's advertisements across all media.
Poor chap has been telling me for a few years that he even bought some Solingen [?] steel factory, but he hasn't convinced me yet!

Off topic because I use electric hair clippers to remove my beard periodically.
The time I save not effing about with wet method and product choices I spend listening to music.

King C. Gilette DE Razor, with all kinds of blades. My favorites are the Personna Platinums, Astra Superior Platinums, King C. Gilettes and the Voskhod blades. I use a big boar brush from Omega (I think it's the 10049) and my alltime favorite soaps are: Wilkinson shave stick blue (with Tallow and Lanolin) which was unfortunately discontinued and Proraso Green. But I like the Tabac old formula shaving soap and the dirt cheap palmolive shaving cream too. I want to mention, that it took me about 2-3 years to perfect my shaving technique and at the same time figuring out, what kind of blades and soap work best for me.
I started the DE shaving because of regularly occuring ingrown hair and skin irritation caused by expensive and inexpensive 2-3 blades razors (cartridge and disposable).

I went to Costco to get Fusion blades, but they only had the Mach 3s in stock. Spotted a Harry’s set with handle and a bunch of blades at a much lower price. They’re 5 blade heads. Been using them for a couple of weeks, they are pretty good. I shave in the shower, with Trader Joe’s mango shaving cream.

I'm using a double-edged safety razor with Feather blades. I have a no-name Indian model but on vacation I use a Merkur 46C travel razor. I should probably try a full size Merkur one at some point.

Also, no soap for me. I just shave right after a shower and that seems to work well for me.

I do have a really nice Merkur travel brush somewhere but I can't be bothered to bring soap while travelling.

Oy,
This one is now a sponsor in UFC:

Asking "WTF?" doesn't go far enough, for what my eyeballs see!o_O

I’ve used a mug and brush for more than 50 years. The best time to shave is after showering.

If you shave after showering, the actual equipment doesn’t matter. Except I prefer multi-blade razors that have suspended blades that allow clippings to be washed away.

Everything else is snake oil.

I switched to a safety razor about 20 years ago. Never looked back: Viking Brush, Merkur Long Handle Razor, Personna blades & Old Taylor of Bond street sandalwood cream. YMMV

My first brush was sable, a gift. Cost $50 in 1970.

It only lasted 40 years. I still have the carcass.

My current brush is badger, bought at a garage sale. Works just as well.

This is one of those things where diminishing returns begin at the very bottom.
