Greetings! First post here, introducing myself.

I am Magos Vox, a solo developer writing an Android audio engine, but I am withholding the project name and link out of respect for forum rules until I have guidance. Closed beta, pre-revenue, no company behind it - just one developer who got fed up with how opaque the Android audio app landscape is.

The engine's distinguishing feature is transparency: every playback session is byte-level hash-verified from decoder to USB URB, and the verification surface is live and user-visible. It is essentially a built-in null test at the byte level, running continuously while the music plays. I welcome independent verification - USB capture, null test, loopback - and would rather the bit-perfect claim be broken here than shipped unchallenged. ASR is the forum whose scrutiny I most want the engine subjected to; that is why I am here.

I had meant to raise this privately with an admin first, but my new-account status blocks DMs - hence the public intro. One question if any member or moderator could advise: what is the correct path for a solo developer at closed-beta stage who wishes to share a project for scrutiny and testing - which subforum, and what posting requirements apply?

Hello everyone! I'm a long time lurker, but finally decided to join this controversial group of audio and measurement enthusiasts ;-)

My name is Greg and I'm from Poland. Music listening has been with me from the very early days of my 50 years short life. My father is an electronics engineer and collects old (pre-WW2) radios. I've assisted him scavenging the country for unique gear and parts (tubes, lots of tubes!), renovating them and sometimes selling on antique markets. For the first ten-ish years of my life, all music was in mono - I lived in a then-communist country where electronics were uncommon and radio stations were broadcasted in mono. We had a tape deck at home and a few tapes of local music stars and ABBA. Now I make up for this I guess, drowning in audio equipment of all sorts - from turntables to DACs and streamers. Some time ago I started an audio gear review channel on YouTube where I share "normal guy's" impressions on mostly affordable pieces of gear. Recently, I also started a website dedicated to audio reviews and audio related terms (aka Audiopaedia).

I'm trying to understand the wizardry behind electricity and bits turning into music and I hope to learn a lot here.

I like to listen to music without being annoyed by my gear. Was not always the case in the past. I have no technical background but I like to have at least a general idea how things work (and why). Googling for a review of my amp I stumbled over ASR some time ago. I got the impression that people here know what they are talking about and that I can trust their information. Although I'm still wondering about subjective listening effects, I like the objective approach of this forum. What a great idea Amir had ten years ago!

Hi and welcome.

I suggest reposting your question in the speaker forum - not everyone comes here. But bear in mind - dealership auditions are not massively useful for evaluating the sound of speakers. A large part of the sound of speakers comes from how they interact with the space they are placed in. And even this ignores the risk of any evaluation being skewed by less than 100% scrupulous dealers. Make your short list based on measurements/tests carried out here or at Erin's Audio Corner (your 8C is a good start), and then if you can try to find a dealer who'll let you audition at home. If not, then get opinions of other owners - here if possible.

And spend a little time reading here, before investing serious money in gear, especially on the electronics side. There is a lot of nonsense out there, and it is all carefully constructed to persuade you to spend more than you need to.

Welcome to ASR. You will get great advice here. But not in this thread.

I'd suggest posting your questions in the forums specific for the gear you are interested - or if more general, then perhaps in the Audio Newbie/Beginner Technical Forum.

Clap. I suspect you will hearing ringing or echo. Don’t go hog wild. Curtains and rugs. Fabric pictures without glass. If you add too much, you will ruin the minimalist design.
