Weird Cars Thread

REO Speedwagon, 1931. The new Thomas Pynchon novel has one blown up with a "pineapple" on page 1.

Also the name of a once great band.
It is one of the rare opportunities to draw major efficiency benefits from computational driver aids.
The other issue is: most people that I know, are not even close to going to the same place.
Or even into a City.
(certainly I'm not intentionally going to a city unless I HAVE to do business there [I'm probably not heading to a small town, either]).
At my mother's house, I can hear traffic (sometimes) and sirens from emergency vehicles on the bridge in the distance.
Being able to hear those noises means that I am too close to a city or town:

Chevrolet Spark (by way of GM Korea - formerly Daewoo Motors) - introduced in 2013.

Available in 'Jalapeno Metallic' (color below) and briefly as a pure electric vehicle with a 21 kWH battery in California and Oregon.

I seem to recall more than one reviewer noting a resemblance to a 'door stop'. :)

Aerodynamic drag could be a thing of the past. Why worry about one single car's aerodynamics if you can synch several cars to drive back to back these days? collectively they are way more aerodynamic than individually.
That is true, the majority of the drag on a train is on the rear carriage with some on the front and all the other carriages are more or less drag free.
For efficiency better still would be to ban cars and improve public transport ;)

I shopped for my first new car in 1982. These are just kinda weird. The EXP has largely been forgotten.

I wanted an AMC Spirit AMX:

I also shopped a Ford EXP Turbo Coupe:

I ended up with a Mazda 626 coupe:

I liked the B-pillar-less look with the windows down. It was a decent little car.

a monstrous conglomeration of 50's GM, Chrysler and Ford sheet metal a friend, his dad and uncle are responsible for creating this Frankenstein, I only installed and set up the 454/Turbo 400 drive-train

As I recall, this 626 had styling that was 'cleaner' than most of their competition. That aesthetic and the option to fold down the rear seatbacks (to haul snow skis) convinced a friend to buy and drive one for 8 years. :)

The front is fairly original but I think they have showed homage to the (Pininfarina) F355 at the rear. It is a huge 5 seater saloon car though, so not very traditional Ferrari in that respect :)

The market will decide on the Ferrari Luce......

I remain hopeful this promised 'super car EV' will beautify highways.

A fan of The Detroit Tigers baseball team, Mr. Thomas Selleck, visited their TV broadcast booth today and commented James Garner was his role model as an actor. :)

He was not asked, nor did he offer an unsolicited comment on the styling of the Ferrari Luce. ;)

John Wayne was also a fan of James Garner and considered him the best actor of his time.

Mr. James Garner was perhaps the most 'liked' of his generation of actors.

Fans of his TV shows looked forward to his interplay with Mariette Hartley as they sold Polaroid cameras and paid money to see him in theatrical movies.

Maybe I should watch The Simpsons after all

Recommended if you enjoy parodies of familiar movie scenes.

Many websites rank their favorite parodies.

I have lost count of how many parodies they have shown of James Caan's final visit to a highway toll booth in The Godfather ;)
