I mentioned in this thread a while back that if I ever bought an expensive watch again, it would be a Breguet Type XX.

Well, the deal finally came my way.

A good deal is hard to find (one the makes you and the other person happy)! Congradulations.

Found this for $10 on the web site of the largest internet retailer. I couldn't help myself. I've had it for nearly a month and it's still working. If I get a year I'll be happy.

Not on the wrist yet, but a serious contender for the next acquisition to add in the rotation

Also considering Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT as a sturdy daily driver. But the GS is strong!

GS are well-made, and this reference has among my favourite colour scheme in a GS. But bear in mind that GS tends to be incredibly thick (13-15mm) unless your watch has the latest movements. That was the dealbreaker for me

Yes, it’s a thick watch and I’d need to try it on first for sure.

I have a couple other watches that are a bit thick, but not 13-14mm. The thickest is probably my Navitimer 41 which ~12mm.

I don't mind 13mm+ for a complicated watch. My peeve with GS is that they are 13-14mm for time-only or time+GMT despite the cost.

The 9S Evolution movements are droolworthy though and make for much better case proportions

On my wrist today, one of my favorites - 48mm of titanium in the Zodiac ZO8510, of course with a Swiss automatic movement. I was about to write they are limited and good luck finding one, but there happens to be one on Ebay at a surprisingly low price [but the crown is partially damaged I just read, they say, so prolly not waterproof]! :)

Scrolling into it: the band caught my attention. I actually stopped scrolling to look at it before I scrolled further to see the watch.

Beautiful classic design. Always have love GS.

By a sheer coincidence, I was about to head out to a rough nature walk, and strapped on my "beater" - a Seiko Mt Fuji "World Heritage". It's phenomenal build quality at any price, never gets scratched (tegimented super steel or something), I'd trust it in a world doom scenario. Lume goes all night after all these years. The detailing in the face is eye catching. Wish it was a tad bigger at 44mm. But for its current price used (<$400 or so) it's a complete and total bargain. They know what they are doing, 100%.

Only drawback is the crown is tough to pull out and handle (I have left it on to scuba down to 65m), but if you wear it for a long time that's not an issue.

Love the ruggedness! I have probably spent the cost of a new watch on getting watches serviced - lol.

My plan was initially to get a rugged daily, but saw the GS M221 and it threw me a wicked curve.

A happy middle ground is the Seiko Prospex
