I find an analog watch useful, as it is faster than checking my phone in many occasions, and helps me avoiding paying too much attention to it anyways. I bought this new in 2006, it has never been serviced and looks like new while keeping excellent time without batteries: that makes me happy.

As my vision has deteriorated, I am considering purchasing another "high readability" wristwatch like this (I have the wall clock version in our kitchen) but dislike the idea of buying more than I need....

This Design originates from the official Trainstation Clock made for the swiss railway company (SBB). You find at least one in all of the 800 Trainstations. This is the epitome of a (swiss) classic !

Well said.

I might even suggest divers may have even taken a step beyond that. I think they now exist on a plane with things such as blue jeans that are simply cool because they are cool, for reasons totally divorced from their origins.

Regardless, I certainly love the history of dive watches!

I have a 2 seat 2000 Nissan Frontier truck and a 4 (5 in a pinch) seat 2012 Lexus ES 350. But when my wife showed up on a 5 hour layover flight with our son & 2 of her friends, the only thing I could find to rent for a day (on the island of Saipan) that could handle the crowd of us was a Hummer H2. For my purpose on that day it was excellent. I was able to take everyone of us from the airport, go to dinner and bring them back while we all staid in one vehicle. If you have family and friends to deal with, vehicles like this make perfect sense.

You don't live where there's a lot of snow, do you? lol

4 wheel/AWD is a blessing here in Michigan--no off roading. Just on the regular roads. And being up in the air a little higher than a sedan or compact hatchback is a plus, too.

Tyres make more difference than 4WD since they influence brakes and steering too. On normal tyres something like a 5-series BMW is useless on snow but with M&S tyres it will out accelerate a Range Rover which is on normal tyres whilst also having much better steering control and brakes.
The ground clearance does eventually become a potential problem, I'll admit :)

Or in Saipan where it doesn't go below 73 F but has many dirt roads and a wonderful (for people who have ground clearance & all or 4 wheel drive) rainy season with typhoons.

If I lived somewhere with mainly dirt roads I would definitely run a 4x4 with suitable tyres. I rented one in Iceland for a holiday years ago and it was fun driving, like I had on the farm as a kid.
On normal roads I prefer the quietness, ride and efficiency of a car.

Here are the watches I cycle on my wrist often. JLC, Girard, and Luminox spend most time on my wrist.

Based on pure performance, Citizen Blue Angels solar atomic time kills in every measurable aspect. Looks are killer as well. But you know what, I do enjoy my JLC chrono and Girard 1945. In mechanical realm, they perform +/- 10 sec per month. Amazing, considering Orient, as rugged and dependable as it is, does 5-15 minutes per month accuracy. I love my AP as well. Apple is for workouts. Look forward to buying a Garmin Enduro.

On one hand I kind of dig it, like a Fossil but it will actually last.
On the other hand, I don't feel the want to mimic expensive luxury items on the cheap.
On a third thought, probably less expensive than the nice looking G-Shock lines.
