My Ford Fusion rust factory decided to kill it's tweeters at effectively the same time, took it as an opportunity to do better than fords 4.7uf cap and full range woofer. My expectations are extremely low but I can't get settle on anything that doesn't make your brain immediately think something is quite off. My partner complained about it so that means it's really bad lol. I don't really have any experience with cars, generally seems like a bad idea to put effort and money into these rust buckets audio.
Results don't really sound good so far. I got some dayton AN25f and I made a two way filters in vcad but it sounds kind of weird. Phase doesn't seem usable here so I just kind had to do a lot of averaging, I mean the drivers are like practically 2 ft apart. Then I tried running the woofer full range and just high passing the tweeter and that was worse. The woofer actually seems to play all the way up to 10k and follows a fairly linear trend, but it has a big 2k bump that shouts at you.
So then I considered, this full range is already doing so much, maybe I can just tame the 2k peak. According to vcad a parallel notch filter will take care of it, and for just a few bucks, but I have never implemented this filter passively.
I'm going to assume active is the only way to go in a car but I'm not really looking to invest in that just to fix some tweeters. Anyone have any experience with cars or ideas on where to filter things?
