Some affected discs aren’t manufactured anymore and can’t be replaced.

as some of the affected titles are no longer in print or the rights have expired,
consumers have been offered an exchange for a title of like-value.

The theory, which has not been substantiated by WBD, is that the defective discs
all came from a specific manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania that used subpar
materials and cut corners, resulting in poorly made discs.

Seems like a similar situation to the 'rotting CDs' produced by the PDO Blackburn plant, and possibly another plant in Italy, some years back. It took a while for them to own up to that one too.

That is disappointing to hear. I wonder how many of the reported titles HAVE NOT subsequently been released in the 1080p Blu-ray disc format with lossless audio.
