Back to VU Meters,
So am I the only one that finds the VU meters on this $3,000 Vincent SP20 amp looking like they better belong on a $149 Monoprice Chinese tube amp?
Some cheesy looking crap to me. :(

There is something about the proportions that make it look aesthetically wrong.
The scale is so small and illegible you'd need a magnifying glass to read them.
Plus I keep waiting for a fish to swim by.

It does look like something that belongs on a tropical fish tank...

Well gee, if mixer meter bridges are fair game, here's one that has a few:

I also liked the ones on my old Phase 700. Here is a shot of the 700B:

Oh, that's funny/interesting...but distracting on the road I would surmise.
I hope electronic advertising...anywhere on a vehicle...isn't in our collective driving future!

Nice console -- um, VU meters --, Don. :D

Thanks! But I didn't own that one... I got to play with a lot of nice consoles back when I was doing live and some studio work, but the only "real" mixer I owned was a fairly cheap road Altec like the one below. it did have meters, though. :)

Nice set of gear -- even that old PL sonic enhancer thingie! My 700 was great when it worked but was the least reliable amp I have ever owned. The "A" and "B" versions were much improved but I didn't own one of them.
Mine only let the smoke out once, it took out the tweeter and midrange compression driver in one channel. :( Used it a few more years after the repair then sold it and got my VTL tube power.

The PL noise reduction unit worked well at removing some of vinyl's more nasty byproducts.
