I hooked up my Kali Audio In-8v2's to an LG TV but the volume is already at 100% with the Kali volume knob turned at 1%. I used a converter box and also placed a volume control on the 3.5mm output but it had zero effect. Will a converter box with a remote control to control the volume work or will I have the same exact problem?

I really wanted to keep this setup as minimal as possible but will I have to order more expensive stuff to control the volume for a setup like this?

Also, the only audio output for the TV is optical or e-arc but I don't like e-arc since it seems to have a huge amount of noise no matter what I do.

The Kali lacks Optical in, so what device do you have connected between TV and Kali that converts Optical to Analog?

Do you want to control volume using the TV remote, or are you ok with using a separate remote just for volume?

I have the setup like this TV Optical -> converter box -> 3.5mm output to dual RCAs -> Kali Audio speakers

I find the 3.5mm to dual rca the best for reducing the amount of noise from the tv. I'm fine using a separate remote. I'd really love to keep everything as compact as possible and would love not to buy big receivers. I'm almost at the point that if I can't find anything I may just return the Kali speakers. I was hoping to keep a minimal setup.

Of course any decent DAC with a remote will work, like the Topping E30 II Lite at around 100 Euros here.
Ideally you would connect the Kalis with a balanced cable, but that would mean a more expensive DAC.

The SMSL DO100 Pro ($190) has native Balanced Line out and can connect to the TV via HDMI ARC, so that you can control volume using your TV remote.

Alternatively, a WiiM Mini or WiiM Pro would come with its own remote for volume, but in turn you get built-in room correction.

You can also try using your tv's headphone jack via the 3.5mm to dual rca connector. This allows you to use your tv remote and also the tv's dsp audio settings.

Yeah I'm going to most likely return my DAC and I'm going to look at Amazon and see if there are any DACS at a nice Black Friday price.

It only has an optical out and e-arc as I mentioned above. Optical is the only one I can use cause the e-arc always makes a noise.

Yeah but I was just asking cause the 3.5mm volume slider I added didn't work. I'm wondering if I get a converter box if it's still going to do the same thing with outputting the volume at 100%.

The only things I see are the other cheap converter boxes with a remote. I only got mine cause it had the e-arc but now I know I can't use the e-arc connection at all.
Unless theres another really good converter/etc to get around the 100 dollar area , let me know.

How far do you sit from the speakers? A decent DAC should solve your issue as a $25 dollar one is always a crap shoot. Also, what are the TV's sound settings?

nice!
This is 10 bucks more but also seems like a nice option for around the same price

Is it possible you need to change audio settings on your TV:

To adjust your LG TV's digital audio output settings, go to Settings > Sound > Sound Out and select the desired output device like HDMI (ARC/eARC) Device or Optical Out Device. Then, to fix potential audio issues, navigate to Advanced Settings within the Sound menu and change the Digital Sound Output from "Auto" to PCM or another compatible format like "Pass Through".

Yeah I already looked at all those, almost everything is grayed out so I can't adjust anything. There are 2 different optical modes and they do that and the e-arc is completely unusable due to how much noise the e-arc connection makes.

What model is your LG tv ?

Woodwork just as well
.
Any chance you or anyone else knows if this will work for a PC?

I hooked these up to my pc, got the volume at 10% and getting a decent amount of noise. I can't do gaming at all, the noise is insane. I even tried to do a workaround by using my monitor's audio selection and no luck at all, just a massive amount of noise once the GPU kicks in.

The only thing worse than an LG tv is a windows 11 pc. It's another piece of absolute shit I should have returned instead of just thinking it just needed a couple of fixes.

If I have to buy a more expensive dac thats 100-200 bucks I'll do that if it kills the noise once my PC and TV.
