Well folks, this is a turn up for the books. The redoubtable Teenage Engineering has launched a very decent looking disc cutting lathe.
Not much detail yet as far as pictures go but it looks pretty serious. Price on application but suggestions are running at around US$30,000.

Not sure what is being cut in the video in the form of the master but I get the impression that the machine is intended for live cutting onto a vinyl blank.
The main thing I'm after with this is that vinyl tragics will now be able to make their own discs and in the process, discover how many compromises have to be made to transcribe music onto a plastic round-thing with a squiggly scratch on it! Then they will know that vinyl is the purest form of recording and reproduction!
