So -- is this the same electric sitar model that Denny Dias (fairly famously) used for the, umm, electric sitar solo on Steely Dan's Do It Again?
(AI seems to think so, but I am a trust but verify kinda hominid)

PS ... and, yeah, that ad is kind of sketchy-looking from a 21st Century perspective, isn't it? :eek: :facepalm:

If categorizing Veena instrument would be considered as such. Predating back 1000s of years probably.

I dont speak with authority but two instruments were modified in Mughal era. Veena to became Sitar and Mridangam cut in two pieces to be became Tabla. Following is Veena recital by Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh.

oh, no, not the instrument at all*... rather, the embarrassing 'cultural appropriation' of the image (and the text) mixed with good ol' western sexism.
Neither of those come across very well in 2026.
