Does anyone have any opinion/experience or good technical data on the internal dac used in some of the Vincent Audio integrated amps? They use the TI PCM5100 and 5102 chips. Seems like the general consensus is that an internal dac is a compromise in sound quality, or am I listening too the marketing monster again?

If it’s implemented correctly I personally think PCM51xx is audibly transparent. Perhaps not in the most extreme cases and tests.

It's a very basic DAC chip that you can also find on Rspberry boards for $/€ 8 - 25.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I'm asking is because I own the Vincent SV-500 Integrated amp. I've tried the Denafrips Ares II DAC and the Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 200M. The internal DAC in the Vincent just sounds better to me. Didn't expect that.

I have the same experience with the Vincent SV-737 amplifier using the PCM5102 chip. I've tried connecting the Bluesound Node X with the ESS 9028Q2M Sabre DAC and the Chord QuTest with a FPGA DAC (field-programmable gate array), and for me the internal DAC in the Vincent sounds better too.
