Very low volume on audio setup

I finally got my audio system fully set up. Here is the signal chain:

Pro-Ject Carbon 5 turntable --> Cambridge Audio Alva Duo phone --> Cayin MT-45MK3 amp --> Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 speakers

I still need to make the micro adjustments to the turntable (anti-skating, etc) but wanted to power up everything to make sure it all worked so I played a record last night but the volume is really low despite the volume knob on the Cayin being cranked to the max. All tubes are seated firmly in place, all wiring is secure, etc.

Any ideas why this is?

Does the phono actually works?
I would check this first.

Stupid question on my part, but how do I tell other than the phono lights up?

Power light is on as is the MM indicator which corresponds to my cartridge type.

What happens if you plug something else into your power amp (a CD/DVD player, or your TV, or phone, etc.)?

And if your TV has analog inputs you can plug-in the output from the phono preamp (obviously with no video) to test the audio at that stage.

As a crude test you can plug one-end of an RCA cable into the amplifier, or into the phono preamp, and you should get a buzz when you touch the signal connection. TURN DOWN THE VOLUME FIRST!!! It's also a good idea to touch ground just-before touching the signal input, just in-case there is a static charge on your body.

This turntable? It says it has balanced outputs so make sure it's configured for your regular unbalanced preamp.

And make sure the phono cartridge is wired correctly.

Is there a chance you have connected an MC cartridge to the MM input?

@DVDdoug I have no TV so I'll have to plug in my phone or music player into the amp but again, stupid question on my part, how do I connect my phone (which is a USB) to the amp?

That is the correct turntable. I'm still new to all of this hifi stuff so I've got no clue how to configure the turntable to fit the preamp. Everything is plugged in to the correct inputs/outputs.

The phono cartridge was attached upon delivery so again, checking if the wiring is done correctly is something I'll have to do more research on.

@Sokel It's an MM cartridge and the turntable is plugged into the MM inputs on the preamp

According to the specifications, the Cambridge has an output of 300mV and I think the Cayin has an input sensitivity of 300mV, so there shouldn't be any problems.
Does the Cambridge potentiometer have an effect only on the headphone output or does it also have an effect on the line output?

It only effects the headphone output
