Broken lows, mess in the highs. Typical for budget planars.
Budget planars? Sir these are mid range at the price point and definitely have better distortion than any 1K and above premium planars

Danny at GR Research imports these so he'll be happy he finally got a nice review. I assume the're available with a conventional finish & non-circular cloth airpads (to improve HF response).

Looking at the website, the red version is perfect for “gear heads.” I think I’d stick with the black though…
Excellent review per usual Amir. Could be Version 3.0 will be my endgame headphones. The 2 reviews impressively, but if a future 3rd version takes advantage of the input here, they’ll be phenomenal.

Not a fan of the look, but I can't see them on my own head, so not a big deal.

The distortion numbers are incredible -- lower than any link the chain could have achieved in the vacuum tube era.

In my youth I dated a woman who had hoop earrings just like that, but that was in the 1970's. Not surprisingly, they've called Verum and want those circular period pieces of kitsch back. But, otherwise, they do look like a really good buy in that price range for anyone looking for a planar. But maybe the Aune AR 5000 might be an even better buy?

As always, a great review, Amir. Thank you.

Tough to review headphones nowadays I think, but indeed nice to see the low distortion! I might like to have seen a smoother frequency response but planar headphones seem to carry that characteristic apart from DCA planar headphones which seem to do away with that negative largely. Tough to review headphones nowadays, nice distortion results!

"Selling poison to children is fine but using ethnic slurs is a bridge too far!" - seems like a bit of moral miscalculation.

Shame the owner/manufacturer seems like such an awful person - these look really nice.
I don't know man...I mean, what is he selling? Racism or headphones? If you don't need racism, don't buy racism. If you need headphones, buy the damn headphones. Just stop with the damn virtue signaling please.

You might be fine with having no principles, but I am not.

And this type of behaviour should also not be tolerated and promoted in addition by ASR, especially when it was sent directly from the company.
You only have half the story. When we heard of his original statement, we immediately banned him with strongest condemnation. A good while later, he approached me and profusely repented those statements and i believed him. And hence, reviewed the Verum 1. And now this.

You all are welcome to judge him as you like but please don't question me.

The apology I read was not an apology it was excuses. Some BS about the USSR having no racism and than ending his "apology" by saying he thought the black lives matter movement was comical.
He has finaly realized his racism and threats are not good for business and is now back pedalling. Personally I dont buy his apology, or his headphones.

Hi @Igor_S,

I watched a YT video where your compatriot Pavlo showed covers that transform Verum 2 into closed back headphones. Do you plan to make them available for purchase? If so, it would be nice to see measured performance with these covers on as they would definitely alter FR. I've seen this approach implemented by another Ukrainian headphone manufacturer Sash Audio, but unfortunately the FR graph showed a complete mess with the covers on (in the case of Sash Tres SE headphones). I'm curious about your implementation.

Yes, I'm now proposed them at self-cost to Kickstarter supporters and begin shipping (at least I hope so) next week. I've made some tricks here and there to minimize negative effects, experimented with damping and of course will show how this will affect FR. And it will for sure effect in a negative way.
I treat this as a cheap variant to loose not very significant part of performance and at the same time to stop irritate people with your music.

Honestly, people can't read all about Verum and its owner outside of the forum. Since amirm's messages are private we can't gather any more info from that... interested in what he had to say, though.

Suggest we try and stay on topic of the headphones, lest this becomes pages of back and forth on things that might better stay private and have little to do with audio science.
