Using RCA to XLR cable with Audiophonics MPA-S250NC - will I diminish max power?

After considerable thought (and reading ASR!) I had come to the conclusion that I wanted to order the above power amp to connect to a Wiim Ultra for a new project. I liked the performance and track record of Hypex based amp and the fact that it didn't have a power brick.

Then I read abut noise issues a few people experienced with this amp. So I went down a rabbit hole.

Normally I would get an amp with RCA inputs to work with the RCA outputs of the Wiim. Never used XLR. But then I read that you can get some of the benefit of balanced inputs if you have the right RCA to XR cable. I have since ordered a cable from Monoprice. I had read that this brand of cable was constructed correctly and will test it with my DMM to validate how it's constructed.

Then I got to thinking - RCA outputs at 2V max and XLR at 4V max. If I use the RCA outputs of the Wiim, and use this cable to connect to the XLR inputs on the power amp, it will be at lower max voltage than normal.

My question is - with this setup am I going to diminish the maximum power/wattage that my power amp can output?

I don't expect to play it anywhere near max volume but I want that extra power reserve for the transients. This is why we all buy amps with power to spare.

Of course I could always just get the RCA version of the power amp and keep my fingers crossed I don’t have a problem and have to return the amp to France (from the US).

From what I can tell, the XLR and RCA versions have identical gain and performance, so you're not losing anything by choosing XLR.
