I was wondering if anyone has experience using Oppo UDP-205 as a pre-pro for listening to multichannel music!
Directly connected to a multichannel amplifier?

Any recommendations, I was thinking of using a couple of Purifi amplifiers for a pure music 5.1 system.

Certainly doable but a primitive user interface, the lack of volume knob, and a concern about software volume control are concerns.

So what multichannel processor do you use to listen to multichannel music?

I play all my multichannel music from files using Jriver (or, sometimes, Roon) through a multichannel DAC, so I do not need one. (I have a Marantz AV8805 for AV use.)

Which multichannel DAC? I didn’t think there were any good ones!

I have a miniDSP U-DAC-8, an Okto DAC8 Pro and an exaSound s88. I've also used/reviewed the Merging Anubis and NADAC. Those are the options.

Personally, the s88 suits me best.

Hi Kal,

so in an Atmos system of more than 8 speakers, how would you do this? Maybe you already have?

cheers

I do not know but the issue isn't yet ripe for me. I can do Atmos through the Marantz directly. As of this moment, I do not see sufficient repertoire or other motivation to implement Atmos into a higher quality system. If/when that happens, I'll have to deal with it.

OKTO DAC8PRO is in my short list!
Might not be able to get one for a while...
