Using CD player only as Transport

Hi guys, I am new here and would like to know about running my quality CD player as just a Transport to use with a Dac I am looking to purchase! I think I have the 2 options of Toslink or Coaxial! Thank you, larry

That’s about right, good to check reviews on dacs and see the jitter performance of digital input to figure out what’s your best option.

Jitter isn’t a huge factor to most and probably has no audible change with those inputs but something to see as I believe that’s the only consideration objectively.

Someone with more knowledge maybe able to provide better feedback

well sure i mean whats the hangup?

people have been running toslink or coax out to a dac for decades

you used to be able to buy CD players with no dacs inside

You can do that of course. But a standalone DAC may or may not be superior when playing 16/44 content.
