Hello! Before I begin, I am new to this forum so please forgive any mistakes I may make on this and future posts. I am also a novice when it comes to audio stuff but are interested in it, thanks for reading!

Today, March 23rd 2025 I received AirPods Pro 2s (as well as the Fiio BTR11) as a late birthday gift. I use an Android phone and an old MacBook Pro from 2015. I was wondering if there are any cheap or even free apps that can allow me to have more control of my new AirPods especially on my Android (Pixel 6a as of writing this). I currently use the app AndroPods but would love to (if possible) be able to have a little more control and perhaps more accurate battery indication for my earbuds. If anyone can recommend a free (or cheap) app that can do any of that whether it be from F-Droid, Google Play, Mac App Store (macOS 12.7.6 Monterey), etc etc. That would be great!

There's an open feature request for GadgetBridge but no code yet. That points to AirPodsLikeNormal as a working implementation with protocol documentation, but that needs root to use a workaround to an open Android bug. If I understand it correctly, that bug will prevent Android apps having full functionality until it's fixed. If you're lucky that'll be while the 6a is still getting updates. There's the root workaround, and I suppose it could be picked up by other Android builds like LineageOS.

Thank you very much!
