It's fairly easy to measure to audible limits - I can do it with relatively inexpensive kit and free software at home.
It is not. With your description you measure everything but not your source! Btw. how do you calibrate your mic? Do you have a reference? Do you know how your reference is calibrated? Do you have absolute freefield conditions? And so on.

Measurements of electronic devices is done in the electrical domain - so no miccrphone needed.



I note you used the word acoustics - so if you are talking about measureing speakers and room interaction with a mic - then fair enough. But you would never do that to measure the impact of your source. Speaker distortion, ambient noise and room effects would vastly swamp any measure of quality from your source device. Even test to test variation is bigger in the acoustic domain than the imperfections in electronic components.

I have a calibrated mic for room measurements, but would never even think of using it for trying to measure electronics (streamers/dacs/amps etc)
