Using 5 active speakers with a 9 channel AVR for a 7.2.4 configuration, and the assigning of power

Hi all
Greetings of the day.
Updating my HT after long but decided to keep my Avangarde Solo’s as my LCR and RS’s (don’t ask why but am probably emotionally attached to them ).
Am looking at either the Anthem MRX740 or the Marantz Cinema 40, both of which are costing me nearly the same, with 2 SVS subs.
The question is, if I am configuring a 7.2.4 system, can I use my Avangarde’s (with their built in 250w amps ) for LCR and RS channels, and shuffle or reassign the power channels in either receiver to cover all the Atmos and side surround speakers ?
Buying external power amps is the way out but I was wondering if I can use the un-utilised power in the receiver and also save some $$.
On the other hand I could go for the Integra 8.4 or Cinema 30 (could push my budget a bit for those)
Looking forward to your valuable inputs.

The C40 has 4 discrete subouts, MRX740 has 1, so with 2 SVS subs, the C40 would be better unless your 2 subs are of the same model, placed symmetrically, have the same distance from your mlp.

Both should let you reassigned the unused amps.

Hi @Mumbhai! Welcome to ASR.

Have you read the User Manuals?
No I haven’t

thanks Peng . Yes, the non-independent dual sub out is a bummer. Both the subs will be the SB2000 pro and equally placed. If I stick to a single SVS SB3000 it would be fine too. But then again restricted and not future ready.
The other option is the new Denon X6800H. Am getting a great discount on that which, including a full live Dirac with bass , will cost me $150 more than the Anthem.
If we circumvent the sub issue, which is the preferred receiver from these ?
Thanks

Just pick the avr on its feature set you want for the best price. A Denon 3800 or 4800 would probably suffice and cost less than the 6800 but I'd go with Denon generally over Marantz just due costs for same feature sets. Anthem has never appealed for their cost/feature set. YMMV.

I don’t mind spending a bit more for the 6800 over the 4800.
My main concern is the processing quality and also the basic connectivity. Should have a few HDMI 2.1’s, VRR, ALLM, and I won’t be using more than 2 subs and they will be upfront equidistant. I don’t mind GUI’s being basic. Also, would prefer some kinda preset memories for movies and music.
Once you set up, you will rarely be fiddling around.
Whatever I’ve seen/read about Anthem 740, especially by Audioholics and Andrew robinson, as that it’s processing is “world class”

I'll have to review what AH had to say, Andrew I just don't find worth listening to. The Denons/Marantz with the XT32/Dirac set are mostly distinguished by the different amp/power supply combos and numbers of such as well as number of channels they are capable of. I wouldn't expect much else from the processing side, they're all quite sufficient. Not up on my HDMI 2.1, don't need it as I don't source audio from a tv.
