Hello,

after I started scratching my head a bit too much searching for such a "cheap" converter, I found https://www.audiophonics.fr/fr/inte...2s-2x-tcxo-alimentation-230v-otg-p-10547.html
* Class compliant
* Async USB input
* Integrated power supply (only 220V, though?)
* Can ouput coaxial/BNC, AES/EBU, S/PDIF Toslink and I2S via RJ45
* Cost 140€

Hope this can help some people.

By the way, if you have something similar, I'm taking. I find 140€ to be still a bit expensive for something as simple as digital format conversion.

Wolf measured a really good Chinese XMOS device that is sold for $100 but it being a taobao product I'm not sure where you'd find ASIO driver if you'd need one. Default UAC-2 one would work, though.

About the OP product, this is a rebrand of one that SBAF measured: "Breeze Audio DU-U8".
It's not bad at all so for it being Europe-sold with warranty at audiophonics, it's a good choice IMO.

I see. Would like to know the input voltage, though. Being on POSIX OSes, I just need class compliance, personally.
Thanks for the measurements link, by the way.

Sorry, deleted the post when I saw the device was already mentioned.

I have this USB knob connected to an rPi4, it controls the software (ie digital) volume of mpd in Moode just fine. It also mutes/un-mutes with a down-press click on the knob. This click can also be re-programmed to pause/play.

I run usb into a Topping D10 and then S/PDIF out of the D10 to a Monarchy DIP. The DIP adds an accurate jitter free clock and outputs AES/EBU. About $250 total for the 2 devices on the preowned market.

I have the drok knob above and it works great...I've recently switched to a G815 mechanical keyboard with a volume wheel, which I like better...quicker to reach and less clutter on the desk

D10 + simple AES impedance adapter is probably better quality (not to mention cheaper) solution, than a dubious-looking "jitter box"..

Cheapest solution is to use your onboard soundcard or as cheap as possible usb to spdif coax soudcard and use appropriate cables.
If your motherboard has built in SPDIF Coax then: https://www.thomann.de/intl/pro_snake_aes_ebu_spdif_cable_male_3.htm. If it has built in Optical Toslink then add toslink->coax converter box like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000127894556.html.
If you specifically want/need USB to AES interface then it's cheaper to go straight to the source for these:
* same device as OP but cheaper ($95): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32998637138.html
* similar device, same price as above ($95), but with BT: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000329305409.html?pvid=b1160e0a-5e59-4fd5-ba57-76811b26bc27
