USB headphone dongles for phone calls (iOS)

Wonder about headphone dongles that work for media calls on iPhone.
I have a couple high power dongles here like JM20 Max and they are all great for music, but other than the weak EU Apple dongle, none of them works for incoming phone and media calls.

Maybe some of you have experience with iPhones dongles to tell me, if at least the incoming audio from the phona call would be transfered to the headphone, no need for mic input though but would be nice. Simply want to avoid stacking dongles here till I find a working combination and my forum search was not successful.

Would adaptors like JCally JM12 or ALC5686 chipped dongles work with iPhone for calls?

Just do a search on Amazon for “USB-C to 3.5mm headset adaptor with microphone” or something similar.
They also use the term TRRS for the same thing.

I bought a couple, but they were really bulky, so I returned them.
I found a few that allow for charging while listening, which is pretty handy at times.

I have a Fiio Tiny A which I use with my Android phone. I absolutely love it, it's the nicest songle, it doesn't take up much space, and let's me charge at the same time (it of course supports microphones and buttons).

Unfortunately some of its advertised features don't work on iOS (I think you cant configure the PEQ? And you can't play DSD). However you can setup the PEQ on an Android, Mac, or Windows device, and it will remember the settings.

That looks great!
The only problem with most portable DACs is the bulk they add and the extra cables.

It’s a shame it doesn’t support iPhones and iOS devices.

It does! (or at least the webpage I linked claims it does). It's just the settings app for it doesn't, so unless you borrow an Android phone you'll miss out on these: (I've set everything to their default in the picture, but I usually have the light turned off):

I never use EQ or anything like that. Hit Play. Done.

I’d just buy the Apple dongle. It’s TRRS. Pair it with a headset of your choice.

I used it with a sennheiser gaming headset for years on my pc because it was quieter than the built in sound card.

Yeah, the Apple USB-C headset dongle is perfectly acceptable.
I use one with my Etymōtic hf3 headset and ER4SR headphones. It works fine.
Adding cheap DAC has been surprisingly good.

I think the EU requires the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm dongle to limit the volume, so people have looked for non-volume limited alternatives.

Yeah i personally never use my stuff past about 50% volume so that’s never been an issue for me

I do about the same, depending on the piece I'm listening to or the recording.
I listen to stuff with some extreme dynamics, so I have to be careful when those big f f f f f passages hit.
